BEYOND THE POWERS THAT BE...

in #powerlast year (edited)

So I have been mildly invested in this YE's scandal and a couple of other scandals involving high-profile men who have been de-platformed for their views--right or wrong. It is interesting seeing how things have and are unfolding in the digital and physical spaces.

With the YE's case, I find it quite comical putting into consideration all the outlandish things he has said in the past, his recent comments are where the corporate world draws the line. I also find it refreshing how he is choosing not to back down despite having to lose millions of dollars in deals and sponsorship. The old trick of cancelling people seems not to be as potent as it once was.

It's a very interesting time we live in where people can lose their source of livelihood because they said things that do not resonate with certain groups with labels that have been forced down their throats to put such persons in a bad light. For instance, a couple of months ago the very controversial Andrew Tate was banned on all social platforms substantially. People took it a notch by cancelling people who were associated with his brand. When asked why he should be cancelled many could not substantiate their claims.

Fortunately for Tate, his major source of income does not come from the internet. Also, Rumble--another social platform, was willing to accept him--and many like him who have been ousted from traditional social media platforms. The only sad part about the Rumble deal is that it is a centralized platform and many of these high-profile individuals moving there can easily be de-platformed as well, but that's by the way.

In YE's words, "no one man should have all that power." No group, individual or corporate entity should define or dictate how the rest of the world should be run. Even in governance people can contest certain decisions. I do not want to live in a world where I lose my livelihood because my ideas are deemed offensive. You have the right to listen or ignore, but you don't have the right to determine if my message is good for the rest of the world.

We all need to live beyond the reach of the Powers that be or the matrix as Andrew Tate would say. This is not an impossible feat and you don't need to have millions to achieve this feat. People can live their lives outside the established structures of the world. The more people embrace these alternatives, the better our chances are of reclaiming the world from the very few who control it.
