Colorado Enacts the CPA Privacy Law

in #privacy3 years ago

In the absence of a federal privacy law, that would establish unified privacy rights of citizens, I applaud Colorado, to the be latest state to enact legislature that protects its residents. States are leading the charge to protect American’s privacy.

Unfortunately, this is creating dozens of different privacy regulations and thereby an untenable situation for businesses trying to comply. Without an overarching national policy to protect people, businesses will struggle unnecessarily.

We need to take a page from the EU where 27 countries follow a single comprehensive Privacy regulation. Businesses are able to comply much easier when the rules are clearly defined and stable.

Haha, I have little faith in our federal government doing something in a timely fashion.

Nor anything that favors anybody but the rich.

It has taken a long time just to get this far...

Privacy is important, but all the different laws are getting confusing!
