My son and I were walking by and he noticed this white hair sticking out over the construction site. He said,
"Hey dad. There's a ghost."
He doesn't know the half of it.
Jack was sweating after working on the back hoe for four hours straight. He had dug up a good foundation and was glad of the work he had accomplished. Everything was ready for pouring cement and setting up an elevator shaft....
This had been the residence of McCarthy family. They had raised three children who went off to America to college. That is all except the little one Elizabeth who had an accident when she was young. What an outstanding family and what a beautiful home.
The family all moved to Florida twenty years ago to retire and the house has been empty until a distant relative claimed the land and decided to build an apartment building there.
Jack had been working on laying the foundation and everything had been going smoothly until..
clank!
....What was that metallic sound? They hit something that wasn't rock. Digging around they found and old box. It was rusty and hard to open. They used a large iron crow bar to pry it open.
There was a strange smell when it opened. Anthony the forklift driver said it smelled like sulfur. Under the green dust was a just a little doll. They just laughed and tossed it in the dumpster.
Strange things started happening from then on. Anthony had parked the fork lift when he went to lunch but he must have left the brake off because after lunch it had rolled down the hill and smashed into three cars. Jack was glad it wasn't the cement mixer that had rolled away.
When he looked back it was worse than he had expected. The cement mixer had rolled down the hill into a house.
None of the work they had planned could get done. The crane that moved the I beams into place fell over and the I beam had crushed through the neighbor's window.
There was no way this project could be finished. No contraction company could take the job. The owners just abandoned the land in mid project.
Now anyone who passes that place can hear voices of children playing or a girl crying. Some say it is the cats. Others say it is the ghost of the little Elizabeth who lived in the house before it was demolished. We will never know but one thing is clear.
No one is going to build an apartment building there.
Have you seen my doll?

Little Elizabeth's doll has been missing all these years.
It seems that she can't rest until she finds it.
Well this is my Wednesday story. Totally fiction except for the fact that my son did point out that ghost like figure at the construction site. Happy Hump Day.
I was already trembling in fear as I read through lines. I was scared but couldn't stop reading because it felt like a classic story. Reading on, I was looking to see the name of the street so I never get to walk such path if I ever visit your country. Lol. But I'm so glad I got to the ending and saw that it was fiction. What a relief gosh! You got my fears high and my heart raced without having a particular rhythm due to fear. You're such a good story writer and of course the hair your son saw and pointed as a ghost actually is scary. !PIZZA
Thanks for reading @teknon,
It is kind of spooky walking around construction sites at night^^
Stay safe

You're welcome 😊
The beginning part seemed completely real, but when you went to the doll stuff I was like "nah this has to be fiction". Spooky stuff though
Hahaha
