The Next Hot Crypto Niche: Decentralised Social Media - Lets bring tweets or BEEDs to HIVE

in #proposal2 years ago

Twitter in my opinion is the most undervalued stock of the tech giants.
Not to discuss things but to spread news.

However, there are a lot of people spreading irrelevant nonsence there, there are also a lot of experts in their fields sharing their insights providing incredible value.

It is a very powerful way to gather information / news just using a condensing tool like tweet deck and collect all relevant voices of a topic to get a very precise and up to date view from a lot of different perspectives you simply cant get anywhere else.

In fact, the most successful news channels on youtube use exactely that method and are always faster and more independent than the main stream media can be.

Up to today however, nobody was able to derive real significant cashflow out of it.
monetisation seems to be tricky as nobody seem to want to pay directly for consuming news.

I think that Elon Musk thought it could be very possible to achieve just that introducing crypto currencies to twitter.
Thats maybe why Elons Musk was so interested in aquiring it.

He alwas had a visionary talent to develop buisnesses with disruptive potential revolutonising their areas and serving mankind.
Buisnesses like Tesla transforming mobility, SpaceX colonizing the Mars and preserving mankind. Or bringing Internet to everyone with Starlink.

A censorship resistant news service with unbiassed possibility of free publishing media would just be as revolutionary and needed by mandkind.

Probably it was the plan to develop twitter just into that.

Officially he wants to step back from the deal because there are too many bots decreasing twitters value.
Maybe - Or due to recent uccurances with governmental interferences about account policies it might have dawned on him that a centralized entity that twitter is, independence of governments would never be possible.

Since the takeover is not happening now..
.. I think we should introduce tweets to Hive.

Of course we should use a more hive like term for them.
Maybe something like Beedances or BEEDs since this is the method information of rich flower fields is exchanged between the bees of a hive.

I can imagine that this could be the missing puzzle part to make hive mainstream.

Content providers can use all type of media and hive would be the center that displays all of them.

For example a content creator makes a video.
He uploads it to youtube of course since there is the best outreach.
Then he makes a hive post integrating the video and gives a brief summary of its content and maybe also providing additional material like charts, statistics, pictures and spreadsheets that help the videos message.

Then he uses the beed feature to post a beed anouncing the new content he provided using the 144 words limiting it.

Follower get the message read the 144 words and can decide if they want to click and read the post.
There they find the brief summary. If interested they can watch the whole thing and dig into the additionl material and even join the discussion that the topic may have initiated.
All in one place. And all with hive rewards for it.

Of course a condenser like peekd should already include a tool like tweed deck in it to provide everything in one place.

So whats new? What is better than what exists already?

-Everything in one place
-truely decentraliced and censorshipfree place to share display and discuss information
(You can also additionally use free or decentralized video platforms like DTube or odyssee)
-crypto already naturally integrated.. therefore also financially free. No demonetarisation.

Hive has no transaction fees. Bitcoin lightning also has very low fees. Both are almost instantly veryfied. A perfect match.
I suggest to offer a service that exchanges bitcoin lightning to hive backed dollars and vice versa.

This would only require a maybe non crypto person to get familiar with a lightning app.
I think everybody knows how to use a credit card.

So it could work like this:

Buy Hive backed dollars via your credit card.
Use Hive and earn hive backed dollars.

If you want to use them for buying stuff just exchange them for bitcoin lightning and go to a site like www.bitrefill.com where you get almost everything.
This way you would be able to transform your HBD into everything you want (amazon vouchers also available) almost instantly and (almost) without transaction fees and without complicated exchanges.

This would transform HBD into a very liquid and valuable coin.
Even non crypto guys will see that HBD is real money then.

And I think that everybody will be fine with the idea that dollars uploaded to Hive via credit card are HIVE Dollars there.

People could store them instead of bitcoin if they dont want to be exposed to the volatility risk that bitcoin imposes on them, but they are always able to use bitcoin as payment option.

Of course every hive backed dollar has to be minted with hive which supports the value of hive.

This way there would be a much clearer distinction between the currency HBD and the stock like thing that hive is.

Separating the user of the platform from its investor. Much clearer, easier and therefore might attract more people to actually use it without the need to study every detail first.

The reason why I invested in Steem to begin with is that I saw the necessity for a censorship free media where people could spreak out without the risk of beeing muted, chancelled or even be deleated.
I saw great value in that and as times would probably getting harder even more so.

Twitter provides a very important service to spread news. It even could become the CNN 2.0
In my opinion too important to be a centralized entity and not a DAO.

Thats where HIVE could come in. WE already are a DAO.
Now let s just add BEEDs.

The Next Hot Crypto Niche: Decentralised Social Media

I don’t make crypto market predictions very often, but I’m going to make one now: over the next couple of years, decentralised social media will become the next hot crypto niche. Aave’s Lens Protocol and Polkadot’s
Frequency parachain seem to be the first movers in this regard, and I can almost guarantee that they won’t be last.
If you’re wondering why I’m so confident, it’s for one simple reason: censorship.

Last week, the EU adopted the so-called Digital Services Act which will see the formation of various ‘Ministries of Truth’
(panels of “experts”) in every European country in the coming years. Naturally, their mission will be to fight
misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, etc.
Some of you may also recall the recently paused “Disinformation And Governance Board”
(AKA the literal Ministry of Truth) that was announced just days after Elon announced his Twitter acquisition in the United States.
Canada is also working on the “Online Streaming Act” AKA Bill C-11 which will see content on social media heavily curated by big tech.

If you’re wondering why there’s such a push for online censorship, it’s for one simple reason: people are angry.
There are protests all around the world, and though these have mostly been contained to developing countries such as Sri Lanka, they are starting to spread to developed countries like the Netherlands, with almost no coverage from the media.

With so many people around the world getting justifiably upset with rising costs and relentless government corruption, the people in power are desperate to turn the attention away from themselves. Although the narrative seems to be that Putin is responsible for the price hikes, people aren’t buying it. That’s because the free flow of information makes it possible to know that it’s a big club, and you’re not in it.

People are increasingly aware of the power of international institutions such as the World Economic Forum and how much influence they have over the national affairs of each country. I’ll never forget the guy at Bitcoin Miami who said his mission was to destroy the BIS.

In other words, the individuals and institutions with the
actual power are quickly becoming household names. It’s getting harder and harder to distract the average person from these truths, so there’s only one solution: censor information as much as possible.
People are already noticing the censorship, and they will notice it even more with all these crazy laws.
Now, you’d think that people would simply switch to using apps that preserve more privacy such as Telegram and Signal.
The problem there is that these companies are centralised, and that means they can be easily regulated.
Case in point, the German government successfully clamped down on Telegram earlier this year and I’m sure Signal is a target too.

This leaves only one option, and that’s decentralised socia media platforms - truly decentralised social media platforms that can’t be censored or shut down, no matter how hard governments try.

Mark my words, people will adopt these platforms out of necessity in the not so distant future.
Decentralised storage cryptos will likely play a role too.
Watch out.

He does not seem to have Hive on his screen yet, but in my opinion he definetely should.

Dear @profquax, sorry to jump in a bit off topic but may I ask you to support the HiveBuzz proposal?
It recently lost its funding, is struggling to get back above the HBD stabilizer proposal, and is in dire need of help.
You can support it on Peakd, Ecency,

Hive.blog / https://wallet.hive.blog/proposals
or using HiveSigner.

On behalf ot The HiveBuzz team, thank you!

Lots of interesting thoughts. And I can see you know your place around but some of the ideas are already trying to take shape on HIVE/Hive-Engine. For example, today I just found liketu.com which I didn't know about. I like the simple concept of Instagram applied to HIVE. This kind of works and it's simple enough to mass distribute with phone apps (or even using HIVEkeychain like is already possible via browser). Definitely going an interesting direction.

Side-chains are booming and in the exploration phase. There is lots of need to upskill people protecting the network.

Didn't know about this account until I checked witness votes for blockbrothers 😁... and as usual trying to do my occasional effort of moving people that forget to disable their witnesses down the pipe. If you can spend some time reviewing them this effort will feel already amazing!

Cheers mate!
