Too many thoughts.....Too many emotions

in #psychology3 years ago

Our mind is like a monkey, through out the day it keeps jumping from one thought to another. It is so difficult to control this jumping mind. A study shows that at an average a person has close to 6000 thoughts in a day. we have 1440 minutes in 1 day, of which around 8 hours if I remove of sleep time, then we have a total of 960 active minutes, so every minute at an average we have around 6 thought crossing our mind. Phew, just the calculations make me feel tired, imagine what my brain must be feeling, so clogged up and so densely occupied.

Along with thoughts then there are emotions that flow out, not every thought gives an emotional reaction, but then many thoughts do, and then once the emotions are released the outcome of it is mood swings. Do we realize this loop that we fix ourselves in daily. Even at night most of the people are suffering from Insomnia for the very reason that they just cannot stop thinking, and if you see at night time, the activity speeds up, you get more thoughts at night when you want to sleep and then the mind keeps jumping from one thought to another, making it more active and losing sleep.

It is important to relax our brain for our own good, excess thoughts can also lead to increase of stress level, because the more you think of some particular issue, the more you get weighed down by it. Rightly said energy flows where attention goes, so what your thoughts are based on that your energy will also shape up. If you get involved in toxic thoughts then energy will also shape up accordingly.

There are some very simple ways to relax the brain, which I believe that everyone must practice on a daily basis. Just freeing up the mind for 15 to 20 minutes also will make a great difference on one's mental health.

Meditation is one of the best therapy, but a lot of people who are not into the practice, they end up with getting more thoughts when in meditation.
The another good practice is listening to music. It is one of the best therapy to relax the brain and shut down on thoughts. When you flow with the music, not only the thoughts relax but the whole body energy also relaxes. Music with a nice fragrant candle and dim lights will work miracles for the brain. It will soothe and calm down all the senses.
Breathing exercises are also good to increase focus. Take a few deep breaths and focus on one word like Gratitude, Abundance, Blessing and you will see how calm you feel when you come out of it.
