After wanting to visit for years, I finally made it to Rievaulx Abbey, this was way back in 2016. I'd just got a new car (well, new to me) it was a little Fiat Punto, which to be honest, I loved it, sadly, I had to scrap it last year as it needed a lot of welding on it. But, it was a right little pocket rocket.
Anyhow, me and my mate Gaz decided to nip up one day, we'd got it mixed up with Bolton Abbey, as we were expecting a river running around it, we have been to Bolton Abbey since, but personally, I prefer Rievaulx, as it seems less touristy.
You might recognise the Abbey, as it was in the transformers film "The Last Night", which for once, I enjoyed lol.
The abbey dates back to 1132, and was the first of the Cistercian monastarys in the north of England, and was founded just by 12 monks.
The monsary is now in ruin, thanks to Henry the VIII, and the dissolution of the monastaries way back in 1538, but before this happened, it was classed as one of the great abbeys in England.

These shots were done back in 2015, so please excuse some of the processing, I was also using a fisheye lens for the first time, I do hope to get back after lockdown for some better shots, now I am more proficiant with a camera.
