🏗️ Rabona Work Report #8 — Introducing Rabona V2

in #rabona2 years ago

Hello all Rabona fanatics! Welcome the 8th edition of our Work Report, where we will share with you what's been going on for Rabona since the last update. It's been quite a while, but we have some major announcements—keep on reading!

🆕 1. What’s new

1.1. Rabona V2 beta

This Thursday we have released a major update to the Rabona game! We called it Rabona V2 beta, and it's a major overhaul to the game's user interface, making it more modern, sleek and user-friendly.

The new interface is based on the interface created for @dgoal by @mciszczon and contains few small adjustments (like rebranding, etc.). From now on this will be an official Rabona's interface and we will focus our work on developing it further.

Rabona V2 can be accessed at the url: https://v2.rabona.io. It still lacks some of the core features, but we will be implementing them and letting you all know when we do. For now you can enjoy the dashboard, as well as submit lineups and view past matches. Rabona V2 was built with mobile devices in mind, so you can use it easily on your smartphone. The new dark mode will save your eyes when playing Rabona at night.

We are working on making the cooperation between v1 and v2 as easy as possible. For now logging in and out in one version logs you in or out in the other. Next step is to make it possible to view match lineups in both interfaces, no matter from which they have been originally submitted.

1.2. Matches Simulator

More of a tech update, but we have introduced a new service to our ecosystem. It is called Matches Simulator on https://status.rabona.io/ and its role is as the name suggests: to simulate matches in Rabona.

Although for now the introduction of the simulator will not affect your gameplay in any way, it is an important step that we had to do in order to prepare our system to handle the influx of games that will be generated by the 🏆 Tournaments feature. Our current infrastructure would not handle it well, thus we are making the upgrade.

🛣️ 2. What's coming

2.1. V2 Missing Features

As mentioned before, the new Rabona V2 is still in beta. Many features of the original interface are not implemented yet, thus instead of making you wait for it, we decided to release it already as a beta.

During this transition period both interfaces are available: the old one at the https://rabona.io/ url, and the new one at https://v2.rabona.io/. Both of these can be used interchangeably, so if you are not able to do something (like heal a player) in the Rabona V2, you can switch back to V1.

In the meantime we are working hard on adding more and more features to V2, so stay tuned for next work updates!

2.2. Tournaments

We know you are all waiting for the biggest addition to the game ever: 🏆 Tournaments. We are still working on it hard.

One of the biggest advantages of the introduction of Rabona V2 is that we will be able to let you play Tournaments using the all-new interface. This will be a much better experience for you, as well as it will make it easier and faster for us to implement the front-end for features—as we will build it with much newer technologies.

Soon we will present you the proposed designs of the Tournaments page. We want to consult you—our users—to make sure the interface will work for you. Keep an eye on that!
