Hey today i will be reviewing the 59th Produced Film by Disney known as Raya and the Last Dragon, which became available on selected theatres & Disney+ on March 5th. Know in order to watch the film on Disney+ you need to buy Premiere Access which actually costs 21,99€ or 29,99$...

Yes you heard me right premium price top of the subscription you already have on Disney+, but the silver lining here is that it will become free for every Disney+ user on June 4th, 2021.

Premise - 500 years prior, Kumandra was a prosperous land when evil spirits called the Druun began to ravage everything. They absorbed souls, turning those into stone. Eventually, the dragons of Kumandra used what was left of their magic to create an orb that not only warded off the Druun, but also restored everyone to life, although the dragons who remained turned to stone. A power struggle for the orb ultimately divided the inhabitant people into tribes based on their placement of a giant river made to resemble a dragon: Fang, Heart, Tail, Spine and Talon. Heart Tribe acquired the orb and has been guarding it ever since.

Now the movie itself had lot of initial potential, being based on South-east asian like fantasy world and character designs looked appealing and gave this sort of a western/postapo feel.

Now it turned out to be quite a letdown in some aspects, visually yes great - but it didn't have any musical parts, some characters just didn't create that connection for me, also plot was sort of a predictable.

Cast were good, getting lot of Asian-Americans involved. Now I think fundamentally that this could have worked great as a TV-series too, there was things I felt that could have opened up the world lot more and richness around it. Who knows that might still be in the table.
