A diminished crew on week 2 of the New Year, but still a great time

in #running3 years ago

We were hopeful that the number of attendees was going to stay high after last weekend's run was such a surprising success but only about half of the people came back for week two. What a bunch of lazy louses? Cheap beer isn't enough motivation for you or something?

I'm only joking of course, a big group had other plans and are not as dedicated to the Hash and only the Hash as I am. Even though we had less than 20 people this time around a bad day of Hashing is still better than a good day of doing most anything else.

The above is not the entire crew but one thing that is kind of funny that will be more evident in the later photos is that many people in attendance were complaining a little bit about how "cold" it was on Saturday. This is a perfectly normal part of January in Chiang Mai and at least for me, if one is cold, one simply runs faster to balance it out. We are here to exercise after all aren't we?

This week's run is the type of run that I prefer. It did have some flat bits but also some potentially treacherous ditches and gullies or whatever you call them that required some level of exploration in order to determine where the path continues. You can see a couple of shirts down there at the bottom who have not yet found the trail. I have found it at this point and haven't yet called out the "ON ON!"

While these areas are not technically "viewpoints" we do often return to this site because of the views of one of Chiang Mai's many lakes that most people never even see. I don't know if these are natural or man made but most of the people that visit them never get the bird's eye view that us Hashers do because we have to climb to get to this part. The road for the lazy weekenders only gets them to the edge of the lake. We have to work a bit to get this scenery.

Here is the point of the day where exactly no one is complaining about how "cold" it is anymore. "Titty Twister" is sweating through his shirt and "Byte my Yahoo" has once again used this opportunity to take his shirt off and show us his disgusting body. That dude is shameless but we love him anyway.

As per usual we finish the run with a gathering of the circle where we are able to replenish the fluids lost on the run with beer - just like they do in the Olympics. The clever people in our crew (which isn't many of them) remembered to bring a second shirt because once the sun goes down and your shirt is still wet, and especially after you have been forced to sit on a block of ice while your pals roast you, it actually does start to feel a bit cold again. The ride back on the bus with a sweat-wet shirt can be a powerfully uncomfortable situation. Thankfully, most of our members have the IQ of a piece of toast so most of our people are whinging the entire way back to town.

As always we encourage you to come and join us if you are in Thailand and if you are not to find a local Hash House Harriers near you. All details of our upcoming runs and links to other Hash Chapters around the world can be found at our official website HERE
