Last year it seemed as though the Chiang Mai Bunny Hash almost never had any events. It was as if they weren't interested in doing their own thing but I gotta say, I am impressed with their dedication and also consistency in the number of events they are doing so far in 2021.
For the uninitiated, the "Bunny Hash" is the women's only chapter or kennel of the Chiang Mai Hash groups. There is a men's only group so the logical next step was to have a women's only one. We have 2 other meetups each week that are for both. The reason for the men/women only divisions is steeped in mere tradition - it doesn't mean we don't like one another.
It impresses me that they continue to do their events despite low turnouts and it also doesn't seem to bother them a great deal that this is the case and they have a bunch of fun and drink a bunch of beer just like the men only hash and they also do some of the same trails so don't go to a Bunny Hash expecting it to be easier.
This particular trail or series of trails is one that all of our Hash chapters visit regularly. This is because this is a national park of sorts and the trails go in every which direction and are already well established. The Thai scouts come here for navigation practice for the youth using compasses and there are plenty of paths going this way and that so no two runs are going to be the same here.
The Bunny Hash is the only Hash that seems to focus real heavily on making sure that they have food at the events available right after the runs take place. This is in stark contrast to the men's Hash, where if there are a few bags of potato chips and a banana or two, that is a good day of sustenance in the man's world.
It doesn't mean that the ladies don't drink: They do plenty of that!
They have the same circle at their events that we have at the men's events and while I would bet they do drink a BIT less than the fellas, they can handle their own. You can see that there is a man in the picture because the Chiang Mai Bunny Hash allows men to attend, but they have to dress up super silly in order to do so. The person in the back there with that lovely pink bow on his head is "Pu**y Whisperer" so it is fitting that he would be the one man in attendance this week.
Attendance has dropped across the board after Lunar New Year as many of our resident Harriers and Harriets are still out of town visiting family, so this drop in numbers was expected. It doesn't mean that we can get a bit of exercise and have some fun though, does it?
