Bei einer Vertragsunterzeichnung mit dem saudischen Finanzminister Mohammed al-Dschadaan in Berlin, forderte Altmaier mehr Ausbau in der Wasserstofftechnik, da durch neue Technik und Auflagen dieser Weg gegangen werden muss.
Die Saudis stecken in einer großen Modernisierung ihres Landes und auch der Klimawandel und Umweltschutz spielen dabei eine große Rolle, so der saudische Wirtschaftsminister.
Durch den jüngsten Börsengang des Ölriesen Saudi Aramco, der teuersten Firma der Welt, ist viel Geld vorhanden um diese Energiewende anzugehen.
Die Reduzierung der selbstauferlegten Ölförderquoten sind ein guter Schritt in die richtige Richtung.
Ein Problem bei dem umrüsten auf Wasserstoff ist allerdings das Angebot.
Solange es aus anderen Ländern billiges Öl zu kaufen gibt, wird kaum jemand in die neue Technik investieren.
Die Saudis haben den Russen schon mal eine kleinere Ölförderquote vorgeschlagen, jedoch wurde dies dankend abgelehnt.
Eins steht allerdings auch fest, die Saudis haben mehr Sonne um Wasserstoff herzustellen, denn Russland ist eher kalt.
Die Industrie kann aber auch nicht regionale Auflagen bekommen, ohne einen finanziellen Nachteil zu erhalten.
Das Problem an der Energiewende ist die Zusammenarbeit, solange einige sich weigern wird nichts passieren.

One problem with converting to hydrogen, however, is the supply.
As long as there is cheap oil to buy from other countries, hardly anyone will invest in the new technology.
The Saudis have suggested a smaller oil production quota to the Russians before, but this was thankfully rejected.
However, one thing is certain: the Saudis have more sun to produce hydrogen, because Russia is rather cold.
But the industry cannot get regional requirements without a financial disadvantage.
The problem with the energy system transformation is cooperation, as long as some refuse, nothing will happen.
