A group of scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and NASA have designed an aircraft in the shape of a flying saucer that will delight ufologists, the saucer works by taking advantage of the natural electrical charge existing on the Moon and in large asteroids which is the case of Psyche.
Un grupo de científicos del Instituto de Tecnología de Massachussets (MIT) y la NASA han diseñado una aeronave con forma de platillo volante que hará las delicias de los ufólogos, el platillo funciona aprovechando la carga eléctrica natural existente en la Luna y en asteroides de gran tamaño con es el caso de Psyche.
Apparently these celestial bodies devoid of atmosphere accumulate an electric field through direct exposure to the sun and the surrounding plasma strong enough to levitate surface dust more than one meter from the ground, this would be an effect similar to when we use static electricity to lift papers with a comb.
Según parece estos cuerpos celestes carentes de atmósfera acumulan un campo eléctrico a través de la exposición directa al sol y al plasma circundante lo suficientemente fuerte para hacer levitar el polvo de la superficie a más de un metro del suelo, este sería un efecto parecido a cuando utilizamos la electricidad estática para levantar papeles con un peine.

This phenomenon is limited to small celestial bodies but scientists believe that they can use small beams of ions to electrically charge the vehicle and increase the natural charge of the surface, generating a relatively large repulsive force between the saucer and the ground, having to use very little power.

The idea would be to prepare missions such as the Japanese Hayabusa, a main ship flying over the celestial body to be investigated that deploys small rovers capable of flying over the surface to study and analyze their characteristics without the need to use any other type of fuel than this repulsive force.
