Many countries, including the European Union, are considering hydrogen as the clean fuel of the future, especially the so-called green hydrogen in which only clean energies are used to obtain, especially for high-capacity vehicles such as trucks or ships, that are large sources of contamination.

The invention has been developed by a group of scientists from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft institute and consists of a membrane technology capable of separating gas and hydrogen efficiently and at low cost, which will allow the simultaneous transport of natural gas and hydrogen through the same pipes that we use today.

During the entire transport, the hydrogen molecules travel mixed with the methane and are separated at the end of the journey using ceramic materials and other components such as carbon that form an ultra-thin layer on the ceramic materials that acts as a filter for the larger molecules of the gas.
