Extremely rare phenomenon of "smoke" on the water

in #sea3 years ago

What I managed to capture here by the sea at the South East end of Greece's Capital region was too impressive and rare to not share. Actually too impressive to be properly captured in a couple of rough images here they are:

As you can see this is a rare case of snowing by the sea. What is even more rare is the formation of this "smoke" over the sea. This is due to the temperature difference between the air and the water which is this case is over 10C as the former flirts with subzero while the latter stays in the two digit Calcius area. This resulted in a scene that made the sea smoking like a hot bath. The poor lighting conditions and the lack of proper equipment on a freezing windy day didn't allow much patience for enough pictures to grab the best one possible but still I think you "get the picture" anyway.

You may also consider this a Mediterranean version of "smoke on the water" :)

We had as well this smoke on the waaaater 🎶 few days ago.... but no snow, just smoke ;D

For us it was the heaviest snowfall of the last 15 years or so.
