We have officially entered Advent! So the advent music will continue for a while. This setting of the chorale Nun Komm der Heiden Heiland by Helmut Walcha is one of my favorites. A steady pulse occurs on a low G in the pedals through out the piece. Above that, a melody based on fragments and motives from the chorale is heard in two voices in canon at the second. Above that the phrases of the chorale are presented one after the other in long held tones. I hope you enjoy it.
