October 9, 2021--Piece de orgue en F by Eugene Gigout

A short piece of music today. The Piece de orgue en F by Eugene Gigout is a piece I learned quickly for Offertory at Mass tonight. It is a straightforward binary form with a coda. The A section is heard right at the outset. The B section begins in a quasi imitative section before quieting down and leading to the coda. What I really liked about it was the registration--Principal 8', Flute 8', String 8', and Oboe 8'. The Organ at St. Boniface does not have a principal on the swell division, so I left it off tonight. Looking forward to trying it at the Cathedral of the Epiphany tomorrow.
