Ever since Edward Snowden blew the whistle on the American governments illegal rampant spying not only on it's own citizens but all human beings using any digital form of communications I've been interested in lowering my exposure to the PRISM project that is essentially pilfering all information it can on users of the world wide web.

Come to think about it even the name "world wide web" alludes to the underlying beast that has been created to distribute and collect information over the past few decades within the IT community behind close doors. The sheer amount of both corporate and personal data that is created and sent over the internet daily falls into the range of something like 2.5 quintillion bytes of data (for reference a quintillion is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 expressed as an integer) with estimates of how much data the average internet user creates in developed countries looking to land around 1.7MB a second.
While this is a massive amount of data it's said that under the US's project PRISM that the NSA collects nearly all of it and adds it to big data farms in order to allow it to be included in so called "big data sets" in order to for it to be queried later or have artificial intelligence pick over it later.
This isn't merely done for "persons of interest" but for basically everyone using technology devices to fetch data or as forms of communications today. To put it bluntly "big brother is watching" and while that sounds like some sort of Orwellian 1984 conspiracy theory bullshit it is in fact the state of the world we live in. When you realize the sheer power of the current surveillance state we live in under this planet currently then start factoring in the immutability of blockchain data things begin to get extra spooky.. As blockchains for the most part do the NSA's work for them permanently storing their usage on publicly available and query-able ledgers..

Remember that what you do online regardless of it's from your computer or mobile device is being recorded and logged into data farms run by the government on servers you will likely never have access to. Also keep this in mind when utilizing blockchain technology as well as it stores that data forever and is trivial to aggregate in order to be added to these large govt run data farms that could be used against you in some social ranking system or worse in the near future.

It's a war of us against them. Maybe blockchains aren't the answer, or the entire answer. Better blockchains like Monero and Dash may be options.
Actually just recently started looking into other more privacy orientated blockchains as viable options to port over some existing projects of mine to branch out development endeavors. Blockchain doesn't store the data forever. In a few thousand years some scavenger will stumble into yet another mass of metals and plastics. And that's about it.
All these memories will be melted down into things that don't matter. Humanity used to be smart, chiseling their data into blocks of stone that when preserved would actually last, damn near forever. Now it goes inside the stone that requires a magic spell to open but if there's one crack or a missing piece, one can't even guess what might be there.
