Begin State Maintenance

I took an inspiring picture of this "Begin State Maintenance" sign on SR 266 in Salt Lake City, Ut.

I always important when i leave locally controlled streets and enter professionally controlled state streets.

BTW, Utah uses the hive symbol for state institutions. I associate the term "hive" with the state and the centrally controlled institutions of the state.

This sign is just East of the 4500 South Bridge. Building this bridge was the great engineering challenge of 2008 for the State of Utah.

The construction firm built the bridge on the side of the road and moved it into place. This construction technique is common practice today.

4500 South heads up a hill at a steep incline. This bridge is notable as being one of the steepest bridges in the world. Building a bridge with an incline is an engineering challenge. The Utah highway department made a really big deal about the final construction. This second picture shows a little bit of the bridge. Clicking the second picture will bring you to the gallery.

During my walk I noticed that the county park department took advantage of the COVID19 pandemic to put up signs in Olympus Hills Park banning Snow Boarders. This has been a bad snow year. During a good snow year the park attracts teens who like to do stunts where they ride down the handrails along the trail.

The boarders damage the park infrastructure and are a liability. Boarders who hurt themselves can sue the park.
