It’s been 9 months since my last post about Curation Rewards for Precious the Silver Mermaid – The Community Curation Project that I manage on behalf of the Silver Gold Stackers of HIVE. The project has been running pretty smoothly with a stable HIVE Power for quite a while now and so, as the old adage goes, if it ‘aint broke then don’t fix it. But at the same time it’s always good to have a review of things now and then to see if there might be some clues about what's going on and maybe how we can do things better. Now that I have finally found a bit of capacity for some overdue tasks, there is no time like the present to have a quick peek.

Looking back it’s been just over 6 months since HIVE had it's Hard Fork 25 that once again changed the way that Curation Rewards are distributed and I remember being concerned at the time that our rewards might drop. We had pre-emptively wound our leases back a little bit and dropped our total HIVE Power from about 235K to 210K and there is now a good chunk of data so we can have a peek to see how things look before and after Hard Fork 25. Here is the chart :-
The daily curation is shown in Green with a 7 day average (Blue) and 30 day average (yellow). I’ve marked Hard Fork 25 on the chart which happened on about June 30. Members might recall that at the time there was a slight "bug" in Hard Fork 25 that caused our Curation to plummet to zero for a short time before it rebounded as others who exploited the bug stopped voting for a while to let their Voting Power recover. However, things started to stablise a bit in August and we had a bit of a steady downtrend until about December before things picked up again in January.
Overall it looks like Curation Rewards are down about 15% after Hard Fork 25, but since our HIVE Power is also down about 10% that is probably not too bad and it certainly could have been a lot worse. HIVE has had a big rally in late 2021 and with the Splinterlands Card Rentals now kicking in a few extra HIVE to keep the leases going it does look like the project will continue to be stable and viable at this level going forward. Alongside the higher HIVE price that means Precious can keep serving out those fatter upvotes for all our regular content creators so that's most definitely good news.
