This is one of my favorite types of Junk Silver finds. It is all about the beautiful natural toning of Silver, by Mother Nature. It takes years, if not decades to produce the natural rainbow toning. Furthermore, it was among about a thousand different mishandled one-ounce Silver Maples, Eagles, Philharmonics etc... and Generics, otherwise referred to as Junk 0.999 Silver. Price is usually less than 10%, over spot price, or around $2 over.

This natural toning should not be confused with quick (like in seconds) artificial toning by chemists or coin doctors. Although they can have some pretty colors, too. Some refer to toning as tarnishing and damage to coin. This may be true, to a certain degree, but natural rainbow toning can add eye appear and increase the grade and value of some coins. But then to, there is a terminal toning, brownish stained-looking, that isn't too cool. NEVER try to clean, fix, or improve a numismatic rare coin! If it is a common, with not much potential, and one can't really hurt it, anyway, well you know...

The rainbow toning has turned that generic into something special. 👍

Very nice toning! I always like looking through the "junk" bin at a coin shop!

Thanks for looking & commenting @fat-elvis. Yes, there are some real treasures in "junk boxes," to me anyway.
