¡Hola amigos! Sean bienvenidos a mi post, en esta ocasión les vengo a traer un paso a paso mostrando como realice la ilustración de “Totoro”.
Este peculiar amigo es uno de los personajes principales en la película “Mi Vecino Tototro” la cual cuenta la historia de una familia y sus interacciones con un espíritu del bosque al que llaman "Totoro", en un Japón de la posguerra.
Como dato curioso La película resultó en el puesto 41 de la lista "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema" en la revista británica empire en 2010, mientras que Totoro se posicionó en el puesto número dieciocho en la categoría de mejor personaje animado. ambién, en una lista de las mejores películas animadas realizada por Terry Gilliam en la revista Time Out, el filme se posicionó en el puesto número uno. En una lista similar hecha por los editores de Time Out, Mi vecino Totoro clasificó en el puesto número tres.
Esta película de animación japonesa fue escrita y dirigida por Hayao Miyazaki y Producida por Estudio Ghinbli, el cual también produjo películas tales como “La Tumba de las Luciérnagas”, “Los Viajes ce Chihiro”, “La Princesa Mononoke”, “Kiki: entregas a domicilio”, entre otras.

Hello friends! Welcome to my post, this time I will come to bring you step by step showing how to make the illustration of "Totoro".
This peculiar friend is one of the main characters in the movie "My Neighbor Tototro" which tells the story of a family and their interactions with a forest spirit they call " Totoro ", in a post-war Japan.
As a curious fact The film was ranked 41st on the list "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema" in the British magazine empire in 2010, while Totoro was positioned in Ranked eighteen in the category of best animated character. Also, in a list of the best animated films made by Terry Gilliam in Time Out magazine, the film was ranked number one. In a similar list made by the editors of Time Out, My neighbor Totoro ranked in number three.
This Japanese animation film was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Produced by Studio Ghinbli, which also produced such films as "The Tomb of the Fireflies", "The Voyages of Chihiro "," Princess Mononoke "," Kiki: delivery at home ", among others.
Una de las primeras cosas que hago siempre es hacer un boceto del personaje el cual dibujare, en esta ocasión dibuje al “Gran Totoro” el cual es de color gris, tiene mayor tamaño y es el más conocido de los 3. En ese punto note que dibujar solo al Gran Totoro seria más de lo mismo, así que justo encima de su cabeza me tome el atrevimiento de dibujarle el Pequeño Totoro, siendo este de color blanco muy similar a un pequeño roedor. También le agregué al Pequeño Totoro algo muy característico, me atrevería a decir “Icónico” dentro de la película y fue la sombrilla o parasol hecho de una hoja, por último pero no por eso menos importante agregué pequeños “susuwatari” que en la traducción al español seria “Conejitos de Polvo” Son pequeñas criaturas que viven en las casas deshabitadas, construyendo madrigueras invisibles y convirtiéndolo todo en polvo. Están compuestos de hollín, y también aparecen ayudando a Kamajii en El viaje de Chihiro. One of the first things I always do is make a sketch of the character which I draw, this time I draw the "Big Totoro" which is gray, has larger size and is the best known of the 3.At that point I noticed that drawing only the Grand Totoro would be more of the same, so just above his head I took the boldness to draw the Little Totoro, being this white very similar to a small rodent.I also added to the Little Totoro something very characteristic, I would say "iconic" inside the film and it was the umbrella or parasol made of a sheet, last but not least I added small "susuwatari" that in the Spanish translation would be "Bunnies of Dust" They are small creatures that live in uninhabited houses, building invisible burrows and turning everything into dust. They are composed of soot, and also appear helping Kamajii in Spirited Away.
Comencé a darle color al paisaje, realmente intente hacerlo similar al de la película, use un pincel de acuarela para darle un efecto más suave casi como si se tratase de una pintura.Nota: Dejare el pincel y la configuración del mismo en las imágenes de manera que lo puedan tener si les ha gustado el efecto de acuarela que este da.
I started to color the landscape, really try to make it similar to the one in the movie, use a watercolor brush to give it a softer effect almost as if it were a painting.Note: I will leave the brush and its configuration in the images so that they can have it if they liked the watercolor effect it gives.
Una vez teniendo el fondo listo me centre en el pelaje del Gran Totoro, usando para esto un color Gris en diferentes tonos, uno más claro que el otro para darle así un efecto más mullido, en este punto quería hacer todo lo posible porque él se viera tan “Peludito” y “Esponjoso” que de solo ver la ilustración quisieras abrazar la pantalla del monitor.Nota: Como siempre en las imágenes dejare la forma de configurar el pincel de cabello que uso para que les sea fácil tenerlo.
Once having the background ready I focused on the coat of the Great Totoro, using a gray color in different tones, one lighter than the other to give it a more fluffy effect, at this point I wanted to do everything possible because he I saw so "Peludito" and "Esponjoso" that from just seeing the illustration you would want to embrace the monitor screen.Note: As always in the images I will leave the way to configure the hair brush I use to make it easy for them to have it.
Luego de tener todo el pelaje gris terminado, comencé a darle color a su pansa la cual también es muy esponjosa y peluda solo que de un color más suave. After having all the gray fur finished, I started to give color to his pansa which is also very fluffy and hairy only than a softer color.
Es hora de darle vida a nuestro gran amigo dibujando su nariz, boca y ojos, realmente esta parte es muy simple el diseño de cara se limita a una pequeña boca, una nariz pequeña y 2 ojos redondeados. It's time to give life to our great friend by drawing his nose, mouth and eyes, really this part is very simple the face design is limited to a small mouth, a small nose and 2 rounded eyes.
Ya el Gran Totoro está terminado, así que es el turno del pequeño, use la misma técnica que para el grande, tome un color base un gris y fui poco a poco buscando un tono más claro pues si lo hacía completamente blanco no se apreciaría para nada dentro de la ilustración el pequeño. Luego de tenerlo listo le agregue la hoja que usa tanto el gran Totoro, el mediano y el pequeño para cubrirse de la lluvia. The Grand Totoro is already finished, so it's the little one's turn, use the same technique as for the big one, take a base color a gray and gradually look for a lighter tone because if it was completely white it would not be appreciated for nothing inside the illustration the little one.After having it ready, add the sheet that uses the great Totoro, the medium and the small one to cover the rain.
Y por último me dedique a hacer los pequeños conejitos de polvo, realmente no fue para nada difícil de hacer les di color con el aerógrafo para que el negro pareciera difuminarse mientras más alejado del centro y luego solo le agregué pequeñas manchas y líneas para tenerlos casi listos. Los ojos fueron fáciles de hacer, solo ubique los puntos blanco en la dirección que quería que cada uno de ellos mirase y luego agregué las pupilas para así terminar a estos pequeños amiguitos.
finally I dedicate myself to making the little bunnies of dust, really it was not difficult at all to do I gave them color with the airbrush so that the black seemed to fade away further from the center and then I just added small spots and lines to have them almost ready. The eyes were easy to make, just place the white dots in the direction I wanted each of them to look and then add the pupils to finish these little friends.

Como dato final debo admitir que la película “Mi Vecino Totoro” es una de mis películas favoritas, la animación, la historia, el desarrollo de cada personaje es magnífico, realmente si no han visto esta película se las recomiendo vale la pena verla.
