It has a very, like, mad-libs or even Jackbox vibes to it. It's a way for users to outsource creativity while still being able to claim ownership over it. Sure, sometimes trends are used in a novel or interesting way, but for the most part it feels like the majority of it is done to satisfy an algorithm
I once heard Tiktok described as "When a character dies in fiction and their friends try to ressurect them, but they return as a worst of their former self"
