TikTok Trends

The leading wisdom on Tiktok platform is to jump on trends as soon as possible and adapt them to some sort of niche. So, like, if a video that may start as a sports meme starts trending, it will get remixed into a different meme about, idk, food

It has a very, like, mad-libs or even Jackbox vibes to it. It's a way for users to outsource creativity while still being able to claim ownership over it. Sure, sometimes trends are used in a novel or interesting way, but for the most part it feels like the majority of it is done to satisfy an algorithm

I once heard Tiktok described as "When a character dies in fiction and their friends try to ressurect them, but they return as a worst of their former self"
That's what Tiktok is to Vine.
