Surely in your family you have an activity that many members like to do, in my case my family from Dad is playing Scrabble, this super fun and recreational activity is something that has been happening for two generations and you can be sure that when I have children is something that I will try to preserve as a tradition.
Seguramente en su familia tengan alguna actividad que a muchos miembros les gusta realizar, en mi caso mi familia por parte de papá es jugar Scrabble, esta actividad super divertida y recreativa es algo que ha estado ocurriendo por dos generaciones y pueden estar seguros que cuando yo tenga hijos es algo que voy a tratar de conservar como tradición.
For everyone to understand a little more about this beautiful tradition, we say that scrabble is a board game where individually from 2 to 4 people compete to get the highest number of points from the value of each letter and / or the box of the board where the letter token is placed.
The board has squares in a ratio of 15 x 15, the game is present in more than 120 countries, however the distribution of letters depends on the frequent use in each language, for example in Spanish letters such as "k / w" are not used inside of the game chips because its use in our language is very limited.
Para que todos entiendan un poco mas a fondo sobre esta linda tradicion decimos que el scrabble es un juego de mesa donde individualmente de 2 a 4 personas compiten por conseguir la mayor cantidad de puntos provenientes del valor de cada letra y/o de la casilla del tablero donde la ficha de letras es colocadada.
El tablero tiene casillas en una proporción de 15 x 15, el juego esta presente en mas de 120 países sin embargo la distribución de letras depende del uso frecuente en cada idioma por ejemplo en español no se usan letras como la k o w dentro de las fichas del juego porque su uso en nuestro idioma es muy limitado.
Having passed all this part a little technical we will talk about the family tradition.
My dad says:
"Regarding Scrabble, I can tell you that when I was a child, very young (6, 7 or 8 years old) when I went to Zulia, my aunt Eglee played it, she had a scrabble that her father, my grandfather, had bought for her, I think my grandfather brought it to her from a trip to Curaçao.
It was a stone cardboard, the bag was suede and the chips were made of wood, we played with it, those were our beginnings with Scrabble, we didn't know much but that's how we started. Throughout our history, whenever we could play, it turns out that the game was like a treasure, they let us play very little because we were disorderly when we were children.
This is how this tradition began, this is how we have been playing until today. "
Habiendo pasado toda esta parte un poco técnica hablaremos sobre la tradición familiar.
Mi papá opina:
" Con respecto al Scrabble, te puedo decir que cuando yo era niño, muy niño (6 , 7 u 8 años) cuando yo iba al Zulia, mi tia Eglee lo jugaba, tenia un scrabble que le había comprado su papá, mi abuelo, creo que se lo trajo mi abuelo de un viaje que había realizado a Curazao.
Era un cartón piedra, la bolsa era gamuzada y las fichas eran de madera, nosotros jugábamos con ella, esos fueron nuestro inicios con el Scrabble, no sabíamos mucho pero así comenzamos. Durante toda nuestra historia cada vez que podíamos jugábamos, resulta que el juego era como un tesoro nos dejaban jugar muy poco porque eramos desordenados cuando eramos niños.
Así empezó esta tradición, así hemos ido jugando hasta el día de hoy."
My uncle Luis says:
The one who dabbled in this game was Aunt Eglee, she had a bag for the chips that she made with her sewing machine, the chips were made of wood, the cardboard board, the lecterns were also made of wood, it is a very old version of the scrabble but there we learned from it.
At the moment we did not give it that interest that we acquired after adults, we were reunited with the game, it has been a different vision, we have involved our children and nephews, It is a community "SCRABBLER's".
Now with new technologies even the physical board is being left aside, but we are in love with this game that is no longer a board game to be a game of agile and information-hungry minds. "
Mi tio Luis opina:
Quien nos incursiono en este juego fue la tía Eglee, ella tenia una bolsita para las fichas que hizo con su maquina de coser, las fichas eran de madera, el tablero de cartón y los atriles también eran de madera, es una versión muy antigua del scrabble pero allí aprendimos con ella.
Al momento no le dimos ese interés que ya después de adultos adquirimos, nos reencontramos con el juego, ha sido una visión distinta, hemos involucrado a nuestro hijos y sobrinos, Es una comunidad "SCRABBLERA".
Ahora con las nuevas tecnologías incluso el tablero en físico esta quedando a un lado, pero estamos enamorados con este juego que ya deja de ser un juego de mesa para ser un juego de mentes ágiles y ávidas de información."
When I was a girl, from a young age we had several versions of this game at home, as I see it, it is an excellent tool to play while you learn and reinforce things like vocabulary and spelling, healthy competition and playing with adults also reinforces the instilled interpersonal values.
Since I was very young I wanted to play with my dad and my uncles but they were very rigid when it came to playing a "serious game" which means an adult-only game due to the complexity that could be sought in the way of playing, however as that we grow little by little they include us more, to the point where sometimes we beat the most experienced, but without a doubt, beyond the result, the really valuable thing is to share this beautiful tradition with your family.
In the current times that I am away to continue enjoying a good game of Scrabble with my family, as my uncle mentioned, new technologies bring us closer even in things like a game, in this case I have been playing with my family through the app scrabble for android, it is very good, it has many forms of game and it allows you to keep track of the games, words and personal achievements.
Cuando yo era niña, desde muy joven teniamos varias versiones de este juego en casa, como yo lo veo es una excelente herramienta para jugar mientras aprendes y refuerzas cosas como el léxico y la ortografía, la sana competencia y jugar con los adultos también refuerza los valores inculcados.
Desde muy joven quise jugar con mi papá y mis tíos pero ellos eran muy rígidos a la hora de jugar una "partida seria" lo que significa una partida de solo adultos por la complejidad que pudiera buscarse en la forma de juego, sin embargo a medida que crecemos poco a poco nos van incluyendo mas, hasta el punto donde a veces les ganamos a los mas experimentados, pero sin duda alguna, mas allá del resultado lo realmente valioso es compartir esta linda tradición con tu familia.
En los tiempos actuales que estoy lejos para poder seguir disfrutando de una buena partida de Scrabble con mi familia, como menciono mi tio, las nuevas tecnologías nos acercan aun en cosas como una partida, en este caso he estado jugando con mi familia por la app de scrabble para android, es muy buena, tiene muchas formas de juego y te permite llevar un registro de las partidas palabras y logros personales.
