Me abrí una cuenta en Ko-Fi, la cual es una plataforma para buscar apoyo para los artistas y creadores de contenido y acá les comparto como hacerlo paso a paso.
Ser artista, dibujante, escritor, entre otros, suele ser un trabajo difícil, a veces la mayoría trabaja como freelancers o se apañan con sus propios medios para poder comprar materiales para pintar, dibujar y los equipos para poder realizar dibujos en digital, además todo lo que implica compartir el contenido online como por ejemplo la factura de internet.
En mi caso, debido a la crisis económica que atraviesa mi país (Venezuela), los materiales para arte así como hilos de tejer en mi caso, resultan ser costosos, además poco rentable por las bajas ventas de las creaciones y la imposibilidad de poder vender al exterior, es por ello que me he creado un cuenta en Ko-Fi.
I created an account on Ko-Fi, which is a platform to seek support for artists and content creators and here I share how to do it step by step.
Being an artist, draftsman, writer, among others, is usually a difficult job, sometimes most work as freelancers or manage with their own means to be able to buy materials to paint, draw and equipment to be able to make digital drawings, in addition to everything which implies sharing the content online such as the internet bill.
In my case, due to the economic crisis that my country is going through (Venezuela), art materials as well as knitting threads in my case, turn out to be expensive, also not very profitable due to the low sales of creations and the impossibility of being able to sell abroad, that is why I have created a Ko-Fi account.
¿Cómo funciona?/ How does it work?
Ko-fi es una plataforma similar a un blog o red social donde pueden escribir publicaciones, compartir fotos en un espacio de galería, en donde pueden seguir y compartir sus imágenes, la diferencia es que si hay alguna persona que quiera aportar económicamente puede hacerlo por medio de Ko-fi, usando tarjeta o Paypal, el artista recibe el donativo sin comisión por la cuenta gratis o con comisión cuando adquiere una Premium en donde las personas pueden ingresar a contenido exclusivo de su parte.
Se llama Ko-Fi, porque los donativos son a través del monto estimado para una taza de café (Cofee), las personas puedes invitar uno o más cafés para apoyar y ayudar al artista seguir produciendo. Hay un apartado donde pueden colocar una meta con un estimado aproximado del costo, a medida que las personas le brinden cafés esta meta se irá reflejando en un porcentaje.
En mi caso coloqué como primera meta comprar una cámara para poder fotografiar mis dibujos, pinturas y tejidos además de poder grabar mis procesos, esta meta para mi es realmente importante porque actualmente dependo de una cámara de otra persona para tomar las fotografías.
Ko-fi is a platform similar to a blog or social network where they can write publications, share photos in a gallery space, the difference is that if there is someone who wants to contribute financially, they can do so by Through Ko-fi, using a card or Paypal, the artist receives the donation without commission on the free account or with a commission on a Premium account where people can access exclusive content.
It's called Ko-Fi, because donations are through the estimated amount for a cup of coffee, people can invite one or more coffees to support and help the artist continue producing. There is a section where they can set a goal with a rough estimate of the cost, when people buy a coffee this goal will be reflected in a percentage.
In my case, I put the first goal to buy a camera to be able to photograph my drawings, paintings and knitting work, in addition to being able to record my processes, this goal for me is really important because currently I depend on a camera from another person to take the photographs.
Como crear una cuenta en Ko-Fi/ How to create a Ko-Fi account

2. Ingresar colocando nombre de usuario, correo electrónico y una contraseña, llenar al recuadro de aceptar condiciones y en crear tu cuenta.
Enter username, email and password, fill in the box to accept conditions and create your account.
3. Escoger el tipo de cuenta, es decir puedes crear una cuenta para recibir donativos o para dar donativos, la de recibir es la primera opción.
Choose the type of account, that is, you can create an account to receive donations or to give donations, receiving is the first option.
4. En este paso agregan el correo electrónico de la cuenta Paypal a donde se dirigirán los donativos que reciban, además deben escoger la moneda, si es en dólares o euros.
Add the email of the Paypal account where the donations will be sent, also choose the currency.
5. En este paso escogen el nombre de usuario, en mi caso utilicé el mismo que uso para la mayoría de plataformas.

6. Agregar una foto de perfil.

7. En este paso se escoge los intereses, es decir a que se dedican, ejemplo dibujo, comisiones, comics, entre otros.
Choose the interest, that is to say to which they are dedicated, example drawing, commissions, comics, among others.
8. Agregar una pequeña descripción sobre ti mismo y luego finalizar.
Add a little description about yourself and then finish.
9. El paso siguiente es dirigirse a su correo electrónico donde habrán recibido una clave de confirmación que deben ingresar.
The next step is to go to your email where you will have received a confirmation key that you must enter.
10. ¡Ya estaría listo! para poder completar la pagina deben colocar una imagen de cabecera y empezar a compartir los post, imágenes, agregar metas y por supuesto compartir en enlace con los seguidores.

Tips
No soy una experta en esto, es primera vez que creo un Ko-Fi, pero según he leído los donadores no llegaran solos, es decir, lo recomendable es que compartan el enlace de Ko-fi en todas las plataformas y redes sociales que utilicen para que inviten a tus seguidores a hacer donativos, esto quiere decir en esencia que las personas que mas tengan seguidores mas posibilidades tendrán de recibir donativos, por lo tanto Ko-Fi es ideal para las personas que suben videos en Youtube o que ya tienen una base de seguidores. Por mi parte tengo pocos seguidores, pero igualmente quise intentar porque a veces hace falta un poco de esperanza en nuestras vidas.

Una de las cosas que me ocasionaba inseguridad antes de abrir el Ko-Fi, era ese sentimiento de NO querer dar lástima, es decir, sé que es difícil para muchos artistas y artesanos como yo colocar a veces que necesitamos ayuda, sin embargo hay que quitarse esa idea de la cabeza, en mi caso la economía de mi país es algo que no puedo controlar pero lo que puedo controlar es la voluntad de seguir creando contenido, compartiendo mis dibujos, mis poemas y los tejidos que resulta ser lo que más le gusta a las personas que me siguen. Entonces me dije a mi misma la frase que dijo Eric Draven en la película The Crow “it can't rain all the time” (no puede llover todo el tiempo) esperando tener buena fortuna en esto del Ko-Fi y poder alcanzar mis metas.
One of the things that made me insecure before opening the Ko-Fi, was that feeling of NOT wanting to feel sorry, that is, I know that it is difficult for many artists and artisans like feel needed help, however we must get that idea out of head, in my case the economy of my country is something that I cannot control but what I can control is the will to continue creating content, sharing my drawings, my poems and the knitting works that turns out to be what most people like.
