The holiday season is approaching, so I would like to comment on the Champagne. But first a tip: alcohol abuse is harmful to health, so drink in moderation.

Champagne is a protected label for wines produced in the Champagne region of France. The origin of champagne dates back to the 17th century. Its main characteristic is that the double fermentation process results in a fizzy, bubbly wine. The quality of the champagne is measured according to the vineyard, the strain, and the year of the harvest.

Data of interest:

  • Did you know that you can verify if your champagne is real since the name "champagne" must appear on the label and on the cork. This can be brut, extra brut, sec, Doux. The quality of the champagne is determined by the vineyard, the strain and the vintage.
  • According to a law dating from 1927, only 5 French departments can produce champagne: la Marne, l 'Aube, la Haute Marne, l’Aisne and la Seine et Marne. - In the case of vines, the production of champagne has more restrictions than that of other wines. The variety of grapes from which the champagne is produced must contain 100% of the strains: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier l'Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
  • For the champagne to be better conserved, the bottle must be allowed to rest horizontally, at a temperature of 15 degrees away from light, noise and vibrations.
  • When the label of a champagne bottle is written 《Blanc des blanc》, it means that the champagne is made only with white grapes. The labels must contain where they come from, the type of grape used, the harvest, the degree of alcohol, the nominal volume, and the health messages.
Among the best-selling champagne brands in the world are: Moët & Chandon, Tattinger, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery among others.
In Latin America and other countries sparkling wines are often called champagne such as: Cava, Cider, among others.
