It is a photograph of smoke disappearing in the air (top) and ink spreading in water (bottom). Our emotions are dyed like ink in water. However, if water is continuously supplied, it will be diluted and the dyed color will disappear. This means that water takes the place of emptiness of air.

Therefore the scars of sad memories fade over time like smoke in the air. Eliminating defilements is an attribute of emptiness. So is the rebirth of defilements as well. Paradoxically, there is no need to be hung up on defilements if the continuum of disappearance and arising is ceaseless.

Śūnyatā (Sanskrit: शून्यता, romanized: śūnyatā; Pali: suññatā) pronounced in English as /ʃuːnˈjɑː.tɑː/ (shoon-ya-ta), translated most often as emptiness, vacuity, and sometimes voidness, is a Buddhist concept which has multiple meanings depending on its doctrinal context. It is either an ontological feature of reality, a meditative state, or a phenomenological analysis of experience. Wikipedia
