Splinterlands Rulesets: Always Changing the Game

Rulesets are one of the most exciting pieces of Splinterlands that always keeps the game fresh and challenging, even for players that battle tens of thousands of times.

See below for a complete list of all current Rulesets for reference.

Each time a Splinterlands player goes to battle and an enemy is found, a different set of parameters for the upcoming battle are set. The player is presented with:

imageedit_258_5054803728.png

  1. The 5 most recent teams played by their "enemy.'
  2. The Ruleset(s).
  3. Mana Cap - Can be anywhere between 12-99.
  4. Playable Splinters
  5. A ticking clock with no more than 3 minutes on it.

Between the Rulesets, Mana Caps and the fact that only certain Splinters can be used, there are an incalculable number of possible outcomes, and that's just when it comes to generating the battle. Once you factor in the nearly 300 different unique cards (plus Gold Foil) and the fact that each of them can exist at many different levels, the theoretical numbers are staggering. But hey, I'm not really a numbers guy.

I can confidently say that no matter how many times I battle in Splinterlands and no matter how many years I play, I will never see the same battle twice. There are simply too many variables. The possibilities are endless, and that's probably why the game is so endlessly challenging and rewarding.

Here is the list of Rulesets currently in the Splinterlands battle rotation.

Sometimes the Ruleset is simply "Standard," which means of course that no Rulesets apply. Otherwise, either one or two Rulesets are always used.

Exactly the reason this game is so much fun even though it is pretty simple on the surface, the experience will always differ, at least slightly, even when you use the same monsters. There are so many things that can be different, including rules, levels, and the opponent's preferences.
