Not long ago, in a home not so different than yours...
A young strategist discovered the game of Splinterlands. He too had heard the stories of treasures to be discovered and glory to be won, and finally one day, awash in the soothing glow of his laptop on a day off of work, he joined the game.
The young strategist purchased the Summoner Spellbook with the ten dollars of change that had been sitting in his Paypal account for many years, finally putting it to use. Once he opened the Summoner Spellbook, the powers of all the summoners were also opened to him, and he gained the ability to earn rewards for each win on the Splinterlands battlefield.
The rewards started small and the card collection was meager, but the young strategist battled diligently for a fortnight, finally reaching the end of the season. During the first season, he paid close attention to the rulesets, abilities and patterns, realizing that this game was much more complex than it first appeared. Season rewards were distributed, and that was when everything changed.
Thanks to his brilliant battle tactics, the young strategist was able to reach the league of Gold I just before the end of the season. For this feat the Splintral fates rewarded him 22 loot chests. With bated breath he opened the chests one by one. Many of them contained Dark Energy Crystals, the otherworldly currency of Splinterlands. Some contained cards, but one chest in particular held the key to certain glory. As the young strategist clicked with his mighty cursor, the chest began to shake! "What witchery is this?" the young man cried out.
The card that was revealed was a Legendary Spirit Miner, but to the strategist's astonishment, the card proceeded to turn gold before his eyes!
With shaking hands he quickly clicked over to the market to check the current listed value of his prize. When he found it, his jaw dropped.
One of the things that the strategist had learned in the first two weeks' season was the Peakmonsters bid market. There you could sometimes sell cards instantly for as much as 70-90% of their listed prices! He checked the current bids for the Spirit Miner, and indeed there was someone willing to pay 80% of the listed price. The young strategist made the instant transaction, then immediately went back to Splinterlands for a shopping spree with his new funds.
First he bought the summoners, for he knew that they were key to summoning greater monsters, and they were often more expensive than monster cards. Then he bought the monsters. He put a strong emphasis on monsters that had the abilities of Healing, Shield, Inspire, and Tank Heal, for he noticed that those abilities tended to work well while climbing the ladder to Champion.
With greater ranking came higher leagues, and with higher leagues came greater earnings. The rewards were flooding in like a monsoon rain, and it was only two months before the young strategist picked up his second Gold Foil Legendary card. This time, the card was the prize from a mystery potion and one of the rarest cards in existence: The Mighty Dricken.
From then on, the game of Splinterlands was (and always would be) more than a game for the young strategist. It was a rewards machine, a portfolio, and a savings. There he would always have a home, he would always be challenged, and his time and energy would always be rewarded.
I remember I bought a friend an account but I used it for like two months, even I delegated him some card while he was playing suddenly he receives a Legendary Golden Kraken 😂.
a mighty dricken would actually be a cool card
It IS a cool card... It replaced Prince Julian in the Mystery Rewards. Currently one in circulation... 😎@carrieallen
ah really, I must have missed that announcement... now that is something to look for
If you think the mighty dricken is amazing, just imagine what happens when it lays an egg. {shudder}
