Share Your Battle, Weekly Challenge, Angelic Mandarin, an Angelic Pizza?

in #splinterlands2 years ago

Who doesn’t love a great pizza? When you take that bite of that perfect pizza, right out of the oven, cheese just melts, it is like an Angelic bit that you receive!

Moving on, the Chaos Legion set and the Water element it is a diverse building block to start with, but having the Angelic Mandarin at your back is a great thing!

The Angelic Mandarin is a decent card at lower levels, I am using it with 1 ranged damage, 2 speed and 6 health, my strategy wanted that higher/lower health to take the hit off of my other monsters, but at level 4, the Mandarin gets Triage, a great ability!

Before we get to the battle, let’s look at the history and the lore that has been written about the Angelic Mandarin (by Splinterlands.com):

A variety of the already beautiful mandarinfish, the Angelic Mandarinfish is said to be blessed by the magic of the sea. They swim in the most gorgeous of tropical waters, and live peaceful lives in harmony with all around them. It is said that the touch of an Angelic Mandarinfish has healing properties. And that if one sees an injured person in need, they will swim up and stare into your eyes. As if looking into your soul. If they deem you to be kind, they will heal your wounds.

Following this they have a quick story on the Angelic Mandarin as well:

The sailor sunk deep into the depths of the cold water. He closed his mouth tightly, trying to preserve any air he had left. But the violent shipwreck had knocked the wind out of him. Trails of blood from his wounds blossomed into the water around him.

His mind told him to swim. Swim up and to air. Swim up and live. But his body wouldn't cooperate. Just as he felt unconsciousness tugging at him, there was movement. The glimmer of bright colors through the dark of the water.

A single fish swam to him. It was beautiful; it glowed with an internal light. The fish looked directly into his eyes. He stared back, barely hanging on to consciousness.

And then suddenly a surge of energy went through him. His wounds closed, and his lungs were filled with air. The fish turned and swam off. And the sailor kicked up to the surface of the water.

The battle that we are examining for this one is a lower mana cap at 24, plus:
Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Spreading Fury: All Monsters have the Enrage ability.

This is a unique set that allows the lowest health to be the target, while at the same time, enraging the targets that do get hit, having high power and high health helps on this one.

Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Modern Silver League: (Link) however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.

First up, the Summoner:

Being a Water Splinter, it helps to start with a Water summoner, so enters Kelya, I love this summoner, the boost to speed and giving everyone armor, it fits into so many lineups! Also, the armor on this one was important to me, it would allow my monsters to take another hit, provided that it came from a ranged or melee strike, which is a good idea that it will happen due to the opportunity strikes.

The front line was Djinn Oshannus:

Many times, when I am running Water I use Oshannus up front because of the high health and the speed, which is great, but having Void, where it reduces magic attacks, along with Phase, which means that magic attacks can miss him, it creates a powerful tank. I used him on this one for that high health and the enrage, once he gets going with enrage at 9 speed, he becomes hard to hit.

The next card I have I really do like:

In the second spot, a great card, but decent speed, along with the 3 magic, which would bypass the armor of the attacker, kills on any monster with less than 3 health, that helps a lot!

Next up was the card of the hour, the Mandarin, due to Nerissa and Oshannus having high health I needed a card that can take multiple hits. The Mandarin was there, I figured after being hit once, the speed will increase which might cause some more misses.

Lastly, the Torrent Fiend:

This one I put in the back to take the first couple of hits, watching the battle a second time I should have put him in the front so that Oshannus could get a quick hit in to the backline, but that is okay.

My strategy did work on this one, Nerissa took out a monster every round, the engraged Oshnnus caused some missed attacks and then the Mandarin took some heat off of the other cards. Even though the opponent had more cards than me, the higher value of my cards along with some good planning really helped me to win this fight.

The Angelic Mandarin is a strong card, I can’t wait until I level it up to get the triage ability, it opens up so many more strategies, also at 3 mana it can fit into many lineups, but the back story is really cool, now only if we had them in real life!

Overall, this was a really good battle for me, and when you are watching a battle, you always need some Pizza! If you are looking for a great area of Positivity along with a great community, com join the Pizza Family!
