Share Your Battle, Weekly Challenge, A Double Shot of Pizza!

This time around it is a Pizza, Pizza with Double Strike Arbalest!

Starting off, my Light Splinter goes heavy with ranged attacks, which plays beautifully with the Pelacor Arbalest, the double strike skill along with 2 damage, a perfect setup!

Enter the Pelacor Arbalest:

The mana cost on this one is 6 mana, a middling range for mana cost, but the 2 damage is nice, along with 2 speed, not the quickest, also on the fragile side with only 3 health, but the ability is the double strike, two attacks a round, a really good thing!

Before we get to the battle, let’s look at the history and the lore that has been written about the Pelacor Arbalest by Splinterlands.com lore team:
Pelacor Arbalests are armed with powerful crossbows enchanted to fire bolts at extremely long distances. They are trained to wield a crossbow in each hand and can fire both simultaneously with deadly accuracy. Compounded with the Pelacor's excellent eyesight and nimble dexterity, these sharpshooters are extremely useful as snipers on the battlefield.

An awesome story that really sets the tone from Splinters as well:
The Silver Shield Knight backpedaled, parrying blow after blow as the two Venari snarled and swung their swords at him in a savage and ruthless onslaught. He stumbled. Another blow sent him reeling. He fell onto his back.

The Venari leaped upon him, swords raised. He struggled to lift his own sword, but he couldn't fight them both. He was going to die.

The feathered shaft of a bolt slammed into center of each Venaris' chest simultaneously. The pair crumpled in a heap, unseeing eyes staring at the sky.

The Silver Shield Knight squinted into the sun. Above him, a Pelacor Arbalest hovered, his large white wings beating at the air. In each hand, he held an empty crossbow, still aimed at the fallen Venari.

The battle that we are examining for this is a high mana, 99, can’t get any higher! Also, this is in Modern Silver League:

Weak Magic: Magic Attacks hit Armor before reducing Health
Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks

These battle rules are perfect for the Arbalest, the reverse speed means that it will be firing earlier, which is important, meanwhile, the weak magic helps as well for the defenders to stay alive longer.
Here is the quick link to the battle: Link however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.

First up, the Summoner:

I went with Sloan due to adding the ranged damage, figuring the additional damage can help break through the enemy defenses, and really help to bring the ranged damage to the table.

Jared is a strong card to have, a low health, but a very strong damage number at 5, plus the two speed really helps it to go earlier, then the other ability, bloodlust, every time that Jared takes out a monster, they get a boost to melee, health, armor, and speed, which in this case, decreases the speed.

Since the mana is so high on this one I went with a great sneak card, the Sand Worm, slow speed which works great with the ruleset, but also 5 damage, so it is a hard hitting card!

Next up comes an awesome card from the Chaos Legion set with the Light Splinter:

The crystal smith is amazing, the three speed is helpful, but then the 2 ranged damage due to sloan, followed by 3 health, it will stick around, the big part though, the tank heal ability, to keep Jared in the game longer!

Next came the card of the hour, the Pelacor Arbalest:

Paired with Sloan the 3 damage, attacking twice, so a potential of 6 damage is a great thing, I placed him in the middle so that there is protection from the front by a few cards also protection from the back from the sneak attacks, a good spot for maximum damage.

Next up is the Prismologist, another card that I love in the light deck:

The 3 range damage is nice, but when it becomes 4 even better! Then the ability, blast, does a lot of damage to the next in line attack, which is a great thing. The two shields is also a second backline individual to help against sneak attacks while blowing the rest of the monsters up, a little extra survivability.

Lastly, this one is a little different, I put a melee card in the back row, the Shieldbearer:

A couple of reasons on this one, the taunt ability means that it will be targeted by everyone but the first line monster, this allows me to do more damage to them before they start attacking the rest of my people, the low health Jared has time to build up. Also with the 4 shield and 8 health, it will stick around for awhile.

Did my strategy work, very much so! I actually did not lose one monster in the whole fight! The shield bearer took a brunt of the attacks, but they were not strong enough to make it through while I was destroying their monsters quickly with the amount of damage that I was doing, so high damage output is a great thing!

In the Chaos Legion set, the Pelacor Arbalest is a must in almost all of the Light splinter fights, double attack with a boost to ranged damage, don’t look anywhere else! I would strongly suggest adding this card to your collection to increase your power and abilities.

Overall, this was a really good battle for me, and when you are watching a battle, you always need some Pizza! If you are looking for a great area of Positivity along with a great community, com join the Pizza Family!
