Splinterlands Battle Challenge - DEFENDER OF TRUTH

in #splinterlands2 years ago

Hello fellow Splinterlands fans! Its time for another Battle Challenge. This week's featured card is something I don't use since I don't have it in my inventory. However, I've managed to rent one that we can use for this challenge. Let's see if it's going to help us win this matchup.

Challenge Rules

THEME: DEFENDER OF TRUTH
Edition: ALPHA/BETA
Rarity: EPIC
Element: LIFE
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: PROTECT AT LEVEL 3

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 50

Equal Opportunity: All monsters will attack from any position (range monsters cannot attack from position 1) and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.

Taking Sides: Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles.

Lineup Strategy

Summoner: Drake of Arnak

We're using Drake as our summoner to gain access to the Dragon tank monster that we are going to use in this battle. The +1 armor would also give our team a defense boost against incoming attacks.

Tank: Djinn Chwala

This card's Torns ability is perfect against Melee attackers that when hit, does damage back to the attacker.

Luminous Eagle

This will be our backup tank. Its Flying ability gives it an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.

Cave Slug

One of our damage dealers. This card's Melee attack will be further enhanced by the Inspire ability of Silvershield Knight.

Defender of Truth

We're placing our featured card in the middle of our lineup to protect it from attacks from the front and rear. Although it can only do 1 damage, it will still be useful since Magic attack ignores armor.

Venari Crystalsmith

We're using this card to heal our tank monster and give it a higher chance of surviving till the last round.

Silvershield Knight

Last but not the least is this card. Its Inspire ability that gives all friendly Monsters +1 Melee attack will be our advantage in this battle. More attack power for our Melee monsters gives us a higher chance of winning.

Our opponent used Tyrus Paladium as summoner adding 1 armor to all friendly monsters.

Our featured card died early in Round 1 because of its low health being targeted by most enemy monsters that had the Opportunity ability added by the battle ruleset.

Silvershield Knight was able to kill the enemy tank monster on Round 2. However, it also died in this round due to its low health that prompted enemy monsters to attack it.

Djinn Chwala was able to kill the enemy Silvershield Knight on Round 3 lowering the enemy team's Melee attack. Our team was also able to kill another enemy monster but our healer also died in this round.

Our team was able to kill the enemy Lone Boatman. The remaining enemy monster was killed by the Torns ability of Djinn Chwala after it attacked it. Hearing the Torns sound effect on that last attack signalled our team's victory in this matchup!!!

Conclusion

The Torns ability of Djinn Chwala was the huge advantage we had in this battle since our opponent's team was composed of mostly Melee attack monsters. It doubled the damage the enemy monsters were taking each time they attacked our tank monster.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Our strategy of using a tank monster with the Torns ability worked pretty well since most of our opponent's team were Melee attack monsters.
One thing I think I should have done was using a monster with bigger health and attack than Cave Slug since there was already an Opportunity ability added by this battle's ruleset.

Do you like the DEFENDER OF TRUTH? Why or why not?

I haven't tried using it outside of this challenge but with regards to its performance in this battle, I would say I did not like it. It didn't have any ability at level one. Maybe in its higher level where it has the Protect ability, I might like it.

I hope you liked our featured battle for today. See you next week on another Splinterlands battle challenge. Have a happy weekend!!!

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
