Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Hill Giant...

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Hill Giant from the Earth Splinter...

This is an extremely useful low mana card which serves as a useful tank with its relatively high health (for the mana) although it is slow and with minimal damage at L1.

The battle below features a Level 1 Hill Giant in an OP win against a lesser opponent, with the HIll Giant holding his own amidst an array of legendaries and epics!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 99
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Prince Reynn

  1. Hill Giant - the feature card.
  2. Cornelus - second tank with heal but also awesome damage with plus one ranged attack
  3. Sprit of the Forest - Snipe and good damage and useful as a third tank with flying
  4. Mittica - my main damage card
  5. Goblin tower - damage card two, love blast
  6. SlipSpawn for taunt - pretty universal with high mana outings!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - My OP Ranged attacks take out my opponent's SlipSpawn very effectively early on while I survive R1 with no losses.
  • Round 2 - I lose my SlipSpwan and Hill Giant, but take out my opponent's unicorn and Pelacor
  • Round 3 - it's all over... i wipe out ALL my opponent's remaining monsters..

How important was The Hill Giant?

Well he survived the first round thanks to the SlipSpawn's taunt, but missed the unicorn (half the speed) with his only attack. However he did act as a useful second tank, soaking up most of my opponent's damage after the Spawn.

TBH he got a bit lost among all the other awesome cards doing MASSIVE damage thanks to the Prince's plys one to the ranged attack and additional speed which came in very handy.

Final Thoughts: Hill Giant - worth buying?

Most definitely worth buying IMO as the Hill Giant is very cheap for what you get.

Even amidst an awesome team of legendary and epic cards as above, he still managed to stand out and contribute, but to really see him in his element you'd want to play him in lower mana battles, and especially in a slow ruleset.

So he defo has his place in a deck for sure!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Anyone using my referral link will receive a free rare card!

Sort:

In gold league and up he gets stun too, which is very nice. Especially in a reverse speed battle indeed

True, he's much more of a beast up the levels!
