About cards & DEC price
#splinterlands is an interesting game that combines all those amazing technologies from the crypto world with offline love for trading card games. That is why we love this game so much.
At this time there are multiple ways to hold money in Splinterlands and that is through NFTs and tokens. All of them have some benefits and some downsides but we will not go into that in this article.
Card prices
Card prices are going down. But is this really true? Well, it is. If you are buying cards with Credits. Splinterlands market is interesting. Prices are listed in USD while you are buying with Credits or DEC. If you are buying your cards with Credits then you don't need to worry as credits will hold their value. Credits are a good way of holding the money, of course, if you don't want to earn anything in the process.
At this time Splinterlands will reward you if you are holding your money in DEC (or in packs, land...) in form of SPS Airdrop. So, it is better to hold your money in DEC to get into that airdrop, right? You can find SPS Airdrop calculator on this link.
At this time both DEC price and Cards prices went down. The only problem is that DEC went down more than cards prices (this is the case for most of the cards) and this is how all those whales will get your DEC.
Let me give you an example.
A few days ago I bought Axemaster at the price of 9.3 USD or 1196 DEC. Today the price of Axemaster is 7.49 USD. A lot lower than a few days ago you would say. But due to market prices, I would actually pay more for Axemaster at this point, 1324 DEC.
Why is this important?
There are more and more new players in the Splinterlands every day. That means that rewards from battle are getting smaller and smaller to the point that it is not profitable to rent good cards anymore. This means that DEC is more valuable than ever before because it is more scarce. By using the complex Splinterlands market, whales will try to take DEC from small players. With more players playing Splinterlands DEC should go only up in price. Don't give your hard earned DEC or SPS to other players!
What is happening?
Big players (and everyone else) are preparing for Chaos Legion expansion. You probably want to sell cards that you don't really need and invest that in a way cheaper cards that will in the end, give you more cards and more money. That is why card prices are going down, people need to free some DEC. While it is the perfect time to snap some good cards, be careful you don't pay more than you should. I gave you an example of why some cards could be more expensive now than before.
What I am doing?
At the moment I am buying DEC, whenever I can. With the new expansion, a lot of DEC will get burned like with previous expansions. As there is more and more new players rewards are getting smaller and smaller so DEC should be more valuable in the future. I hope that price will rise just in time for Chaos Legion.
Conclusion
Don't worry, #splinterlands is amazing game and it is not going anywhere. It is here to stay and hopefully it will reach eSports scene soon. Be careful when buying cards in this market so you don't lose you hard earned DEC in the process. We all know why we are playing this amazing #playtoearn game. Splinterlands is an amazing game even though rewards are a bit smaller then few days/weeks ago. I have trust in #splinterlands dev team that they will fix this and make this game even better. After all, they are doing this all the time.

Besides card packs I believe there are a few contributing factors, the SPT coin & Splinterlands NFT collectables have gained immensely while the other game coins corrected with the market. #SPT
With new expansion Splinterlands can grow even more :)
