Countering Llama and Kron combo

As you rank higher you'll quite often start to encounter this annoying duo - Scarred Llama Mage and Kron the Undying. The first you encounter them it might look intimidating. But there are ways to beat them. Let's look into one of them.

But first, let's check out both of these cards.

Scarred Llama Mage

This summoner comes with whooping 3 abilities at the same time. It increases health for all monsters by 2, cleanses the first monster in a row each round from debuffs, and most feared ability - last stand.

The last ability increases the stats of the last monster tremendously and most often he becomes too powerful and wipes out your entire lineup.

An interesting card, but very costly both in terms of buying and renting.

Kron the Undying

This is another quite interesting and powerful card. Kron has it all - high magic damage, self-heal ability and at the same time he has quite a bit of health.

Even at these stats, he is quite powerful, but if these stats are combined with Llama Mage's last stand ability he becomes a beast.

Now then, what are your options to beat this dynamic and deadly duo?

First, you have to check your opponent how he has set his deck in previous fights. But most often Kron will be placed more to the back so that he would be the last one standing.

If it is so, then you must make sure that you don't kill other monsters first and leave him as the last one. So, monsters with snipe and stealth are really handy here.

At the same time, you must make sure that your front line holds out long enough until the Kron is taken out.

Do note that Kron is a magic monster and with that comes a few options.

If you use a death deck, then a very powerful counter would be summoner - Owster Rotwell

Owster Rotwell

He gives the reflect ability to all of your monsters. As Kron deals magic damage then he'd get back from his own attacks quite a lot thus putting more pressure on his self-healing ability.

An alternative to this summoner would be a single monster with reflect ability. But it could be riskier if the monster does not have that much health to stay around for long. If he'd die you'd lose the extra damage that Kron does on himself with each attack.

Gelatinous Cube

A card with no attack. Why would you use it? Well, the cube is one hell of a tank, especially with his scavenger ability (+1 health for each dead monster) and at higher levels self-healing.

If you pair it up with Owster for a match against Kron plus Llama then you get a nice tank that will not damage other monsters in front of him.

And with the reflect ability from summoner he'll send back quite a bit of damage to Kron.

Sand Worm

This card has stealth ability and for a match where Kron is at the back is very useful. With his high attack power coupled with the reflect ability on other monsters he'll put quite a pressure on Kron.

This is a neutral splinter card, so it can be used with any other splinter of your choice.

These are just a couple of cards that can be really helpful in various situations. But what else you could use for a match against this duo?

Very useful are attackers with snipe/stealth ability. And there are many of those in each splinter.

Also, a healer is a good option to add to your lineup so that it would help keep your front of the deck alive while your damage dealers deal with the Kron.

In e.g. death splinter there are also monsters with affliction ability that prevents the monster from being healed. But it's not guaranteed that it will be triggered on hit. And I don't like to leave the match to a chance.

Here's an example fight where specifically is used magic reflect ability.
