Dominating bronze league and rising higher to silver

Hi there!

Are you struggling in the bronze league to gain more wins that would place you in a higher league? Don't worry there many combinations that can literally catapult you upwards.

But to do so you'll need to rent out a couple of cards.

And with upcoming chaos legion cards on Monday 13th September it's the perfect time to rise higher to aim for more daily quest reward chests and of course more season chests.

Today we'll be looking at the old and trustworthy earth deck.

Summoner

Without big surprises, this will be your most affordable summoner from this deck to rent. And he packs quite a punch. Of course, if money is not a problem you could go for Scarred Llama Mage and obliterate everyone in your way in the bronze league. But with the price on that card, it would be overkill.

We're here to be able to also profit not just blow our money, right?

Mylor Crowling

This summoner is a more common sight when you gain a higher rating. But at lower ranking, you can storm through your opponents.

He has a very annoying ability - thorns, which is quite deadly for opponents' melee monsters as it will damage them when they attack your monsters.

Of course, there are counters to this, be it e.g. magic or ranged snipe that first destroys your back-end of the deck.

Luckily there are cards that can also help in these kinds of situations.

Depending on the available deals from the rental market you can get this card for ~20 - 40 DEC. Of course, the cheaper deals will be gone fast, so keep your eyes open. This price is also for a level 1 version. Level 2 would open up way more options as e.g. you'd also be able to use a level 3 Flesh Golem with self-healing ability. Pair it up with a healer and that combination becomes quite annoying.

Monsters

There are multiple very useful monsters that you can use and I'll specifically mention and review a couple of them.

Wood Nymph

Healer for your tank so he'd last longer and damage your opponent's monsters with the Mylors thorns ability.

This card also works as a support damage dealer with 1 magic attack. So it's a win-win situation. Heal and on top of it do some damage.

The only downside to this card is its low health. To keep it up longer you could add a card or two that has utility to it and has lesser health than this card.

Your options could be Brownie (earth monster). He has just one hit point, but he gives +1 speed for all your monsters. The other two options come from the neutral splinter. Those are Creeping Ooze and Furious Chicken.

Both have 1 health where one debuffs the opponents' deck giving -1 speed to all monsters while the other costs 0 mana and is a basic meat shield to take an extra attack from your other monsters.

You can get this card for ~1 to 1.8 DEC

Mushroom Seer

Do you expect your opponent to throw magic monsters at you to counter the Mylors thorns? Then add this fellow to your deck.

Your opponent most likely would use Alric to gain another +1 damage for all his magic monsters. But this guy will counter that with his Silence ability giving a -1 magic attack to the opponent.

You can use Unicorn Mustang as a tank to further diminish the use of magic monsters against you due to his Void ability that reduces the incoming magic damage.

This guy goes for ~14 to 18 DEC. If your finances are tight there is a cheaper alternative. You could use the Failed Summoner card. He has the magic reflect ability that will send back some of the damage to the magic monster.

The best thing is that Failed Summoner is a free starter card available for use straight away. But the drawback is that he has only 4 health, so use him wisely.

With these 3 earth splinter monsters, you're pretty much covered for the lower-level bronze league. And with the cost of these cards, you can easily make this kind of money once you rise higher in the ratings. Which will not take that long.

Neutral splinter monsters

Then of course there are a couple of other monsters that I'd like to mention

RarityMonsterCost
CommonCreeping Ooze~1.8 DEC
CommonSand Worm~0.1 DEC
RareFurious Chicken~10 DEC
EpicGrenadier~0.9 DEC

Of course, you don't have to own all of them to do well in bronze. But in various situations, these cards have their use.

I previously already described how the Creeping Ooze and Furious chicken can help you to take hits before anyone other monsters on your team get hit. But there are two more cards that I wanted you to pay attention to. Both are cheap and have their use.

Sand Worm

This guy is a beast. With 5 attack and sneak, he can ravage the opponent back row monsters as quite often they are not that tanky. He also has 5 health, so this card can take a hit or two before going down.

The downside though is a low speed - just one, which can lead to missed attacks. Also, he costs quite a bit of mana to use - 9. But in a high mana cost game, he could have a use.

Grenadier

And the second neutral splinter monster that I wanted you to pay attention to is this little guy. It's more like a niche card which you'll not use that often in the bronze league. He has just one health, but a useful ability - Oppress which does double damage to monsters that have no attack.

This could be useful if the opponent would use such a tank in front instead of a melee monster - to not receive thorns damage. Some examples would be a neutral splinter tank - Gelatinous Cube. Or a light splinter monster - Warrior of Peace.

In both cases, this guy would strike them for 4 damage. Now that is quite a bit and it would kill off those monsters in no time.

And that's it. With just a couple of rented cards, plus with your starter cards you can gain an effective deck that will bring you far in bronze and gives enough rating to reach the silver league.

Happy playing!
