What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards (DEC is the name of their native token) can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and on the lately added Binance Smart Chain (you can provide liquidity to mine CUB on Cub Finance). You can also provide liquidity on ETH network, but this is a bit more expensive, even if you get some Uniswap bonus in DEC paid straight to your game account (I got 3-4000 DEC monthly with around 60K DEC providing liquidity). DEC is similar with a stablecoin, most of the time, 1000 DEC being $1.
And now it is easier than before (one of my main complain was about beginners not having enough cards at the start) because they offer quite a lot of cards not to the one starting to play, making it a more pleasant experience - I remember losing game after game when I just started 7 month ago, so I am glad that the developers sorted this out. There are big changes and improvements coming soon, according to the Hive rumor mill. No more Mystery potions starting from June, also no more changing Alpha into Beta cards. On this week challenge we have a Common Alpha/Beta card from the Earth Splinter with 3 Melee Attack, 6 Health and 4 Speed at max level, Reach (Melee attack from second position) at Level 1, Piercing (Melee attack damage in excess of armor will damage its health) at Level 6. For a Max Level Beta card you need to pay $45 right now. Personally, I prefer to use the Horny Toad for its Reach, as the Poison is much more useful than the extra 2 Health.
So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:
Mana Limit: 17
Rulesets: Weak Magic (Magic will hit Armor first)
Teams:
Mine - Summoner: Wizard of Eastwood (Minus 2 Armor for opponent), Flesh Golem, Minotaur Warrior, Wood Nymph, Furious Chicken
Opponent - Summoner: Lyanna ( +1 Health boost ), Biceratops, Goblin Thief, Furious Chicken, Khmer Princess, Creeping Ooze, Earth Elemental
I used the golem as self-sustaining tank, with heal, supported by the Wood Nymph as extra healer, and Minotaur as back up, with its Reach ability. The Chicken was just fodder for the potential Sneak monsters.
His Goblin sneak on my Chicken, as planned, while my cards killed his main tank. Then his Goblin died, and my golem kept healing and doing the damage, supported by the Minotaur, as his magic and ranged damage was not enough to kill my main tank. I was lucky, with that goblin on the back, the opponent could have done some serious damage and even win. Positioning is always important.
On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising a bit over half a million. 91% of my target reached and hopefully the 1 million will be done in few months.
