MIT review! Card Game shows future of Ownership

Steem Gamers - We need the Community to get into action!

Feel free to get engaged on Twitter: I did a tweet on that and tagged the editor and @aggroed too here:

Ethereum based Card Game as an example - but what about Splinterlands?

I have been a bit surprised to read about this game on the famous MIT Technology Review. The analysis shall outline that Gods Unchained shows us the future of ownership in general! Pretty sure these guys and especially Mike Orcutt are not aware about Steem and its fantastic Games and especially Steemmonsters.

Excerpt:

Gods Unchained hasn’t even fully launched, but the collectible card game already has more hype around it than any blockchain game ever. This week a beta version opened to the public after months of private testing. But Fuel Games, the startup developing the game, says it has already sold millions of game cards and generated $4 million in revenue thanks to pre-sales.

So why the excitement over yet another collectible card game (of which there are many)? To understand why people think this particular game could be such a big deal, you have to wrap your mind around something called “non-fungible tokens,” commonly called NFTs.

I am sure these guys are not aware of our Splinterlands / Steemmonsters yet.

@aggroed and @yabapmatt - I strongly encourage / urge you to get in touch with the editor called as soon as possible. A review on there will open many more doors.

Monster Players - Please comment on the article to show our community enthusiasm

I am pretty sure if we show a lot engagement there it would be beneficial for the entire Steem blockchain and other games here. So let us show them WHAT the REAL CARD GAME on any blockchain is!

First I would love to get Splinterlands on the radar of MIT Tech Review - not thought about getting the cards though :-)

Without a doubt, I speak for investments and Splinterlands has been good to me.....

True - I might also check this as an investment opp - but not that ETH guy to be honest.

Good idea, lets talk about card delegations, fully decentralized market place with ask&bid orders, fully automated Tournaments, custom Tournaments, Shop and Paypal feature and DEC!!!

Hiya mate - do it and I am happy to comment back and forth.

Very interesting. I commented and liked the tweet. Hope they are interested. Impressive presale numbers of Ethereum based games are one thing, actual use is a different thing.

But if we want real mass-adoption we have to get in touch with the cult games/titels. In the end, users/gamers give the title its value and gamers dont read the MIT tech review. Magic cards is by far the biggest trading card game ever, and still, they dont have a blockchain based version.

There are so many big use cases out there, but first the managers need to understand the benefits of NFTs. I wonder if the steem devs have tried to contact big youtubers or other game devs to educate them about the technology. The E3 for example had a blockchain-game panel.

Agreed in all points - doubt a contact was made from steem devs and big youtubers etc - I would assume others might be more capable to do - the guys behind steem-engine come to my mind :-).

I have bought 2 ETH wort of cards I believe somewhere back in October 2018, without looking to much in the details. It was just heavy promoted and on top of any list about blockchain gaming. ... 9 months has passed since then and the cards are not even tradable yet. You can battle... you need to install the game sort to speak, not a web based ... I have just tested out in a short time and I'm sort of confused ....

So a 9 month wait for something that is so so ... dont know what to say ... maybe it will explode in the coming months but for now I'm patiently waiting :)

What I do know for sure is that if I invested those 2 ETH in steemmonsters they would now be worth at least double, plus bringing more income daily ...

Very interesting to hear - something the media should be aware of as well. Thanks for the contribution!
