Steem Keychain Progress Update 3 - Localization

As promised in the Steem Keychain proposal, we will post regular updates to show our progress.

Version 1.7 is finally live and it finally brought up localization.

Apart from a few bug fixes, most of the work time has been dedicated to this feature that, after a big refactor, allows Steem Keychain to be used in multiple languages.
Nothing to setup, the extension will simply follow the default language of your browser if it is supported, if not it will default to English.

Supported languages

As of now, Steem Keychain is available in English, Spanish (translations by @healthrecipes), Korean (translations by @dakeshi), Chinese (Simplified and Traditional translations by @mimiruby) and French (translations by @stoodkev).
Thanks a lot to the translators and especially to @dakeshi that helped a lot with the testing and debugging of the feature.
We will keep rolling out new languages progressively, following the needs of the community.

Next steps

We will continue going down the list of features detailed in the SPS proposal, with a particular focus to the following :

  • Give support for multiple keys and multisig accounts
  • Give further support to Keychain integration to Communities

Feature requests

We are listening to the community. Do not hesitate to drop feature requests on our Github repository or contact me on Discord (@stoodkev#8281)

Thank you!

On behalf of our team, a big thank you to the community for helping us fund Steem Keychain through SPS.

Very nice update, you guys are really doing great
Though at the early beginning, wasn,t so clear on key chain function, but I do now as of lately

Great update, we love this key service.

I have used it without problems so far using the Brave browser. Keep up the good work!

Well done, guys!

Is there a way to disable the Witness ad at the bottom of the Steem Keychain pop-up window? (I have already voted for @yabapmatt and @aggroed for witness)

It will disappear when you vote for the 3, just saying x)

Bug report: The content often does not fit in the Steem Keychain pop-up window and is cropped at the bottom like in this example:

steem-keychain-1.jpg

Thanks for the report, which browser are you using? OS?

Brave and Opera in Windows

Okay ill take a look and fix it for next release.

I just thought I mention that this problem occurs because us older users like to set the fonts bigger because letters may seem too small for us and for some other reasons we do not want to set the resolution lower to compensate.

In my browser, you can set standard and minimum fonts at: chrome://settings/fonts
For the same reasons we set these fonts bigger we would prefer you worked around these larger fonts rather than forced us to use smaller fonts.

Right now, I am using 14 in Times New Roman for the standard font and I do not have this problem any more. The font may be set from 9 to 72. These may seem strange but might make sense to have a very large font number on a display with a very high resolution.

How about support for mobile users?

We plan to support mobile in the future. Probably after SMTs integration.

I’m using steemwallet’s browser, that integrate keychain function on mobile: it works pretty well! 😍

Brilliant tool to make our life easier on the chain - am a fan. If you need to support for local German language version please let me know.

Congratulations @steem-keychain!
Your post was mentioned in the Steem Hit Parade in the following category:

Love Keychain but please, why can't we use it on mobile devices? Steemconnect is horrendous on mobile and Steem generally is terrible to use on mobile. No one seems to push mobile use as a priority but yet that's the number one key to mass adoption. No one apart from techies sit in front of a PC or laptop all day, we are all on our phones and tablets!!

Well you can't because we didnt develop it yet ^^ In the meantime, you can use @roelandp 's Steem Wallet on mobile.

Not sure if its needed, but I can translate keychain into danish.

Thanks for the great service and keeping us updated. I've only just returned to steem and was wondering why the partiko app I used to love the notifications stopped working it only took me to join the discord server to find that the project has been abandoned?!
