A large part of the impact/adoption on Steem happens to people who are new to crypto and blockchain, often times Steemit.com is the only thing they are exposed to that's even crypto related.
It's almost a paradox..
Steem the blockchain and currency draws it's value from mass adoption and mass usability, The Metcalfe's law. But the majority ones that drive the adoption and usability most likely aren't aware or doesn't care about Steem as a currency.
Cryptocurrencies all these while has presented a barrier of entry in that people can opt in only with either capital or deep understanding in a few branches of computer science. All the while proponents are saying cryptocurrencies "are for the unprivileged/unbanked". So far, only Steem (or rather, steemit.com, with it's account creation fee subsidies) does what cryptocurrencies at large claims.
The investors/developers from the first world countries have a hard time trying to see the value of Steem at work with the unprivileged / unbanked, They ask "whats so good about a payment network, we have Bitcoin LN, or we have Visa" or "whats so good about being able to make $10 off a post, that's just snack money". All while lives are being changed, the way business is done is being changed, all happening in the third world countries. If only there is a way to bridge the visual gap. A way for investors to see what's happening thanks to the Steem Blockchain.
For example, #teammalaysia that is being spearheaded by the Malaysian Steemians.. Has now an official tally of 5 businesses that accepts Steem as payment across Malaysia. A General Practitioner clinic by @papanog (announcement), A gourmet burger joint by @danielwong (announcement), 2 separate tattoo parlours owned by @borneoairsbrush (announcement) and a tour guide operation (though i cant find his/her post about it).
These are real people accepting real Steem for real goods and services. All made possible by the Steem Blockchain.
If only more investors can see whats happening.
