RE: The Resistance

My suggestion is that you try to find a way to enjoy Steemit.

If ranting at each other about grumpy flagging, that's cool, but, I doubt you find enjoyment in that. His methods are annoying, and causing loss to those who don't deserve it, but like me, he does what he wants to get what he wants. I don't agree with his particular choice in battles, and I wish he would join forces with me in mine, but, it's not a war you guys are going to win. Making changes to the blockchain are almost impossible at this point, making changes to user behavior is not.

Hmm I'm actually going to upvote your comment bernie, because it makes sense. Indeed there's no enjoyment in fighting grumpy (or any flag war), it's a waste of time, but he has forced this upon himself and us. We had to do something about it.

Well said, you get my upvote on this one as well bernie.

It is for just this reason that I am currently exploring other avenues that create wins for everyone. :)

Hello @berniesanders – we haven't met yet. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

I've actually been trying to get @grumpycat to join a healthy public debate to discuss the issues he/she cares about. I'll continue to reiterate my reasons for encouraging such a thing – I sincerely believe we all want the same thing – for Steemit to thrive.

All the peripheral bickering via comments and replies isn't productive. However valid or accurate our individual assessments, if we can't figure out how to diplomatically address the issues we all agree uponI fear Steemit's days are numbered.

Check out this article about why countries fall apart. I don't think I'm too far off in that analogy – Steemit is a sovereign nation. Who decides how that is governed? How are rules established and who writes/upholds them? The elite and the elite alone?

From the article linked above:

'States don't fail overnight. The seeds of their destruction are sown deep within their political institutions.'

'Most countries that fall apart – do so not with a bang but with a whimper. They fail not in an explosion of war and violence but by being utterly unable to take advantage of their society’s huge potential for growth, condemning their citizens to a lifetime of poverty. '

'What’s tragic is that this failure is by design. These states collapse because they are ruled by what we call “extractive” economic institutions, which destroy incentives, discourage innovation, and sap the talent of their citizens by creating a tilted playing field and robbing them of opportunities. These institutions are not in place by mistake but on purpose. They’re there for the benefit of elites who gain much from the extraction — whether in the form of valuable minerals, forced labor, or protected monopolies — at the expense of society.'

Good luck to you.

Perhaps you'd like to participate in the panel discussion?

Meh...

Why so uninspired? Your chosen battle is the disgusting absurdity that is @haejin, yes? Are you not interested in identifying potential allies?

making changes to the blockchain isn't impossible if there is direct evidence of the current system being heavily abused. and uhh, yeah, it is.

I don't know ned like you do but steemit will not survive forever if one of the driving forces for content is massive whale abuse... when whales are abusive it incentivizes minnows to go away... leaving a massive chamber of abusive whales.

Considering the blockchain PROBABLY won't be changed.. it's not surprising ned is probably a part of this group too.

There is a reason steemit has been stuck at sub 500k users for over a year now.. change in the blockchain could really allow the platform to flourish

can I ask you something direct @berniesanders?

You've said you don't agree with his battle choice and gave clear reasons why.

Are you in any way against the resistance?

love the video by the way :)

Yes.

can I ask what it is that you are against?

Yes, you may.

haha, ok...

what about the resistance are you against?

None of you are perfect. Many of you have much you think you have hidden.

I don't think any of think we are perfect. I certainly don't.

Honestly we just want the abuse of good steemians to stop. Especially in the name of solving the very same issue that I am currently working on myself.

I am making some wonderful moves toward eliminated bot abuse, at least for my bot and hopefully for others.

It actually will not take much longer either but watching fellow steemians get hurt because someone has an agenda to push is not ok.

so, we resist, not because we feel better than anyone but to help this madness come to an end.

Thanks for your reply and upvotes.

I still believe in people.

You are right at your analysis, since i started this, i am unable to do my blogs and my tiny amateur utopian projects which i really enjoy.

Maybe we will not win but people will see what we are trying to achieve and perhaps not me but some others will take the flag from where it is fallen.

Maybe this thing is really bigger than a minnow like me...
This i really don't care.
I have enough courage and so less to lose like many minnows.

I am from a land, where tyrants are in charge. Here, in steemit i have seen a free platform and again i see tyrants...what else i would do than to resist?

FD.

Yep still the greatest showman in steembusiness.

These people are on your side man, why so serious?

Making changes to the blockchain are almost impossible at this point, making changes to user behavior is not.

It is the behavior that is the problem I believe they are against.

I'm just hopping around STEEMIT. I don't normally chime on this sort of discussion. But wanted to agree with this:

"find a way to enjoy steemit."

Tis what I keep coming back to. It's what I tell friends who join. It's what I tell people who reach out to me privately in chats. Appreciation, Appreciates. It's a simple suggestion learned from improv, and a lesson I am still learning. We are what we focus on, and mix that with this interesting economy of focus and attention within the steem blockchain, and we have the opportunity for simply being rewarded for giving our focus and time to that which we care about and enjoy.

Nice to see the quote is all.

I don't know what's happening with all the dramas. I hope everything smooths over in some fashion. We all go through learning curves especially in steem. I'm still figuring it out for myself, so I can help others withing my and other people's communities. Steem can be humbling, but is ultimately an empowering opportunity for us all to Appreciate.
