Report about Steemit's detoriation

in #steem4 years ago (edited)

It's much worse than I even suspected Justin Sun to be capable of...

I check out every now and then what Steemit Inc is writing about for plans for the future. I am still waiting for the amazing plans Justin has with Steemit, and I am not the person to be really pessimistic about anything.

But every bridge is being burned. The system is actively being censored to remove any reference to what actually happens. Everyone here of course is already aware about the changed terms and conditions that make it illegal to talk about Hive (of course only being enforced on people that uncover Justin's lies).

Effort has been made to get real community witnesses in, while the API unknowing to most people still there is being censored so even steempeak.com doesn't show the censored posts anymore. It's slowly becoming a true echochamber of I don't even know what.

So I try to comment and inform people about the stuff they are missing. Lucky enough Justin kinda does a good job in scaring people away anyway when people think they can prove that Justin doesn't do the scary shit people talk about, like when he started to censor Girl Gone Crypto's video about what was happening, but it takes a long way of talking, showing that you understand their way of thinking, that you are on the same boat but things really aren't as they seem to get to the point that people understand.

I really hope that the ship turns. It would be so much better for everyone if it will just be two functioning chains. At the moment it's a promising network that finally starts being what the original set out to be, and a community that thinks they can gain from Justin's "governance"... unaware about how little Justin gives about anyone, and will butcher the little value that is left without thinking twice.

That said, Justin did put a new post on the steemitblog account, so there is hopefully something moving, but I am very doubtful about anything serious coming out of everything by now...

Is it? Is it illegal to talk about Hive on Steemit? Or on the Steem blockchain? Or on both? If yes, then Justin Sun is really the Mark Zuckerberg of Steemit (and of the Steem blockchain).

As I understand your post, it is on the Steem blockchain.

But now I checked it, and the current last update of the Terms of Service of Steemit is 2018.06.15, and the "Hive" word is not mentioned in it in any way.

Effort has been made to get real community witnesses in, while the API unknowing to most people still there is being censored so even steempeak.com doesn't show the censored posts anymore.

I honestly did not knew this. Looks like some people (including me) are still able to talk about Hive in the posts and comments on Steemit without any problem, which means that the censorship is not 100%.

He added a term about not being allowed to talk about competing services. Also the censorship is being done quite carefully, e.g. waiting a day before the messages disappear. It's like a shadowban, to increase blame to the Hive side, because people can go like, look I am not banned (but e.g. many of those people for example saying "we will not freeze anyone's account" are now burned by the .8888 softfork that forces them to do just that...).

I cannot find that point either. And why the "Last Updated" date of the Terms of Service is not updated, if it is updated this year? I know that promoting third-party platforms (and each other) is not allowed on Steemit (14.1.7 of the Terms of Service), but which point of the Terms of Service is forbidding to talk about competing services?

You are right, this element wasn't in the terms of service before, this is the part they added. The fuss about it has appeared on chain but I can imagine you didn't see that.

When you look up that page on The Internet Archive with Javascript turned off to avoid the page refreshing to an empty page, even as short ago as end January 2020, you see that 14.1 only has 6 points. As late as 2020, in fact up to the purchase by Justin Sun.
