Hello @berniesanders – we haven't met yet. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
I've actually been trying to get @grumpycat to join a healthy public debate to discuss the issues he/she cares about. I'll continue to reiterate my reasons for encouraging such a thing – I sincerely believe we all want the same thing – for Steemit to thrive.
All the peripheral bickering via comments and replies isn't productive. However valid or accurate our individual assessments, if we can't figure out how to diplomatically address the issues we all agree upon – I fear Steemit's days are numbered.
Check out this article about why countries fall apart. I don't think I'm too far off in that analogy – Steemit is a sovereign nation. Who decides how that is governed? How are rules established and who writes/upholds them? The elite and the elite alone?
From the article linked above:
'States don't fail overnight. The seeds of their destruction are sown deep within their political institutions.'
'Most countries that fall apart – do so not with a bang but with a whimper. They fail not in an explosion of war and violence but by being utterly unable to take advantage of their society’s huge potential for growth, condemning their citizens to a lifetime of poverty. '
'What’s tragic is that this failure is by design. These states collapse because they are ruled by what we call “extractive” economic institutions, which destroy incentives, discourage innovation, and sap the talent of their citizens by creating a tilted playing field and robbing them of opportunities. These institutions are not in place by mistake but on purpose. They’re there for the benefit of elites who gain much from the extraction — whether in the form of valuable minerals, forced labor, or protected monopolies — at the expense of society.'
Good luck to you.
Perhaps you'd like to participate in the panel discussion?
Meh...
Why so uninspired? Your chosen battle is the disgusting absurdity that is @haejin, yes? Are you not interested in identifying potential allies?
