Since the day I became a member, I have been trying to understand Steemit's mechanism of generating and distributing income, both by experiencing and studying. What I learned in this process has reached a certain maturity level, and I would like to share this information with you. I will start with the basic information and then go into detail, and finally share my suggestions in the light of this information.
Basic Information
In Steemit, revenue occurs on published posts. Seven days after the content is published, 75% of the revenue generated on the post is given to the person who created the content and 25% to those who upvote it. Although at first glance, a relatively large portion of income seems to be derived from the posts, in practice, the revenue obtained from the upvotes is determinant in the system. The income from the upvotes is called "curation reward." When a Steemit member upvotes his/her post, he/she takes the whole revenue for that specific upvote.
Steem Power
The most important factor determining the share of the curation reward generated on a post is how much Steem Power you have. Each user involved in the Steem system is initially given 15 Steem Power. Since half of the revenues of the published content are paid as Steem and Steem Power, your Steem Power is gradually increasing over time depending on the level of appreciation of your posts. You can also quickly increase your Steem Power by investing in Steem through cryptocurrency exchanges and powering up using your Steem wallet. You can calculate how much Steem Dollars is created by an upvote with a certain amount of Steem Power using https://steemnow.com/upvotecalc.html
In addition to having Steem Power, you can rent it for a specified period. This process is called Steem Delegation. You can rent Steem Power over https://smartsteem.com or https://www.minnowbooster.net/
Voting Power
You have an average of 10 vote rights per day in the Steemit system. As a result of each vote you use, your voting power is reduced by 2%. Your voting power fills up by 20% on a daily basis. If your voting power is between near %100, you can get maximum efficiency from your Steem Power, as the lower your voting power, the less revenue each upvote generates. If your voting power remains 100% for a long time, you're wasting your Steem power.
You can control your upvote value and voting power with simply pointing the blue "i" icon with your mouse.
Voting Weight
Users with Steem Power over a certain threshold can split their upvotes. Thus, they can vote for hundreds of people per day instead of 10 by using voting weights lower than 100%.
Upvote Timing
Although up to 25% of the revenue generated from posts is shared among those who upvote it along with their vote values, other factors affect distribution.
If the upvote transaction is made after 30 minutes after the content is posted, a %25 ratio is valid for the distribution of the prize. If the upvote process is performed, for example, as soon as the message is published, the total corresponding revenue is earned by the creator of the post. If the upvote transaction is realized 15 minutes after the content is posted, the account that upvoted the content receives half of its 25% curation revenue and takes one third after 10 minutes.
As the examples show, the ratio of revenue from the curation increases linearly, reaching 25% at the end of 30 minutes.
Well, then you might think we should do it after 30 minutes. There is a competition between curators to upvote the high-quality content as soon as possible because early upvoter of high-quality content can benefit from the distribution of curation reward. The first person who likes quality content gets the highest share in the distribution. As your upvote falls back into the rankings, the percentage of income is decreasing exponentially.
You may have found all these calculations very complicated. If so, you're right.
Recommendations
Try to increase your Steem Power by generating high-quality content. You can also convert the Steem Dollars you earn from your posts to Steem using Currency Market in the menu of steemit.com and then turn your Steem to Steem Power by using your Steemit wallet.
If you are investing in Steem a great deal of time, buy a small amount of Steem and convert it to Steem Power (a small amount is enough at the beginning, cryptocurrencies are very volatile assets, it is risky grow your portfolio fast)
The most efficient way to use your Steem Power is to upvote your post. If you create quality content by investing a lot of time, you have that right to upvote your post I believe. (It is a controversial issue. Some Steemians do not agree that it is appropriate. In any case, do not post poor content or upvote your commands to transfer your upvote potential to yourself.)
Use your voting power efficiently, and don't let it stay dormant for a long time at 100%. If you don't have enough time to curate you can sell your votes to https://smartsteem.com/ over “sell votes” menu. During this process, you can give an order to the bot to only vote when your voting power reaches to a certain threshold. Set this level to 99%. This allows you to generate revenue automatically from the voting power that you cannot use manually. Reward amounts are automatically transferred to your wallet every two days. You can increase your Steem Power by around 16% annually just by doing this operation. (The ratio can change depending on the Steem price) In this case, unlike delegation, you can continue to use your steem power for your posts and others posts you would like to promote.
People who create consistently high-quality content or/and use upvote bots, therefore have received a high amount of awards for their posts can be targeted. Upvoting these people's posts around 15 to 20 minutes can be a good strategy. To apply this process automatically, you can use this link: https://steemauto.com/dash.php?i=2
Upvoting their content is an excellent opportunity to connect with people aside from the monetary benefits. Do not hesitate to upvote posts that are broadcasted on the tags you are interested in. This allows you to increase the number of followers.
Curation is a craft that requires know-how and time. You can follow curation trails of the popular curators automatically by using this link: https://steemauto.com/dash.php?i=1. By following a curation trail you upvote the content automatically decided by the curator.
In the curation process, we try to estimate the content that is likely to win a higher prize in the future. It would be reasonable to upvote for posts bidding on bid-based bots to earn high curation award before upvoting process occurs. You can track the list of these posts real-time from https://steembottracker.com/ following "tools" - "front-run the bots" route.
By promoting high-quality content, regardless of the expectation of monetary return, we make the most significant contribution to the development of the Steemit platform. Focusing on supporting quality content would be a better choice for the long run.

Her ne kadar ilk bakışta gelirin görece büyük bölümü paylaşımlardan elde ediliyor gibi görünse de pratikte beğeni ya da diğer bir deyişle upvote’lardan elde edilen gelir sistemde çok belirleyici oluyor. Beğenilerden(upvotelardan) elde edilen gelir steemit sisteminde ‘curation reward’(kürasyon ödülü) olarak isimlendiriliyor. İletiyi paylaşan kişi ile beğenen kişi aynı olduğunda kürasyon ödülünün tamamı ilgili kişi tarafından elde edilmiş oluyor. (Steemit sisteminde diğer sosyal medya platformlarından farklı olarak kişinin kendi iletisini beğenmesi ayıp sayılmıyor, alışılmış, neredeyse norm haline gelmiş bir davranış)
Steem Gücü (Steem Power)
Bir ileti üzerinde yaratılan kürasyon gelirinden elde edilecek payı belirleyen en önemli faktör ne kadar steem gücüne (steem power) olduğunuz. Steem sistemine dahil olan her kullanıcıya başlangıçta 15 steem gücü veriliyor. Yayınlanan iletilerin gelirlerinin yarısı Steem gücü olarak ödendiği için Steem gücünüz paylaşımlarınızın beğenilme durumuna göre zaman içinde yavaş yavaş artıyor. Steem’e kripto para borsaları üzerinden yatırım yapıp elde ettiğiniz steemleri ‘power up’ yaparak steem gücünü hızla artırmanız da mümkün. Bir beğeni sonucunda ne kadar steem doları yaratacağınızı bu hesap makinesine https://steemnow.com/upvotecalc.html cüzdanınızda gösterilen steem gücünü yazarak öğrenebilirsiniz.

Oylama Gücü (Voting Power)
Steem sisteminde günlük ortalama 11 oy kullanma hakkınız bulunuyor. Kullandığınız her oy sonucunda oylama gücünüz (voting power) %2 azalıyor. Oylama gücünüz günlük olarak %20 oranında doluyor. Esteem mobil uygulamasında oylama gücünüz profilinizde takip ettiğiniz kişi sayısının sağında gösteriliyor. Steemit.com’da nerede gösterildiğini bilmiyorum, gösterilmiyor olabilir, oy kullanma gücünüzün hangi seviyede olduğunu bu linkte https://steemd.com/@kullaniciisminiz @ işaretinin yanına kullanıcı isminizi yazarak görebilirsiniz. Oy kullanma gücünüz %95 ile %99 arasında olursa steem gücünüzden maksimum verimi alabilirsiniz, zira oylama gücünüz azaldıkça her bir oyunuzun yarattığı gelir azalıyor. Oylama gücünüz uzunca bir süre %100 oranında kaldığında ise Steem gücünüzü boşa harcıyorsunuz demektir.
Oylama Ağırlığı (Voting Weight)
Steem gücü 500’ün üzerinde olan kullanıclar beğenilerinin belirli bir yüzdesiyle oylama yapabiliyorlar. Böylece %100’den düşük oylama ağırlıkları kullanarak günde 11 yerine yüzlerce kişiye oy verip yarattıkları geliri tabana yayabiliyorlar.
Beğeni (upvote) Zamanlaması
Her ne kadar temelde iletiler üzerinde oluşan gelirin %25’i o iletiyi beğenenler arasında paylaştırılsa da bu dağıtımı etkileyen faktörler var ve bu faktörlere göre %25’lik oran da değişebiliyor.
Upvote işleminin iletinin yayınlanmasını izleyen 30 dakikadan sonra yapılması halinde, ödül dağıtımında kürasyon için %25’lik oran geçerli oluyor. Upvote işlemi örneğin ileti yayınlanır yayınlanmaz gerçekleştirilirse ilgili gelir tümüyle iletiyi yayınlayanın oluyor. Upvote işlemi iletinin yayınlanmasının üzerinden 15 dakika geçtikten sonra yapılırsa, upvote eden %25’lik kürasyon geliri payının yarısını alıyor, 10 dakika sonra yapılırsa üçte birini alıyor. Örneklerden anlaşılacağı üzere dakikalar ilerledikçe kürasyondan elde edilen gelirin oranı doğrusal olarak artarak 30 dakika sonunda %25’e ulaşmış oluyor.
O zaman tüm beğenileri 30 dakika geçtikten sonra yapalım diye düşünebilirsiniz. Kaliteli içerik üretenlerin iletilerini erken beğenmek konusunda küratörler arasında bir rekabet var, çünkü yüksek gelir yaratan bir iletiyi erkenden beğenmek kürasyon gelirinin dağıtımında avantaj yaratıyor. Kaliteli bir içeriği ilk beğenen kişi dağıtımda en yüksek payı alıyor. Burada ters üstel bir dağılım söz konusu oluyor. Beğeni sıralamasında gerilere o düştükçe elde edilen gelir payı azalıyor.
Bütün bu hesaplamaları çok karmaşık bulmuş olabilirsiniz, eğer öyleyse hiç de haksız sayılmazsınız.

Really useful blog clear lots of points to me about steemit. One silly question about curation reward is it certain time to upvote or certain initial upvote who get curation reward because I upvote lots of post didn't get any reward? Can you please help me little bit more on this particular point.

I still have 2 questions below-
1- as you mentioned we should upvote post 30 minutes of posting to get more curation reward but I noticed posts with good content gets 100s of votes within 30 minutes. So if I vote that post after 30 min then will I get any reward ?
2- does voting a post affect our account balance. I mean if I vote 10 posts in a day then will it decrease SBD balance or steel power?

Well I guess the idea is that they would feel that would be bad for steem and lower the price of their stake and make it worthless.
