Es importante el efecto de la rigidez lateral, como bien demuestras, mientras más esbelta sea una columna es más susceptible al pandeo por efecto del peso propio de la estructura y debe ser diseñada para soportar el momento y el corte adicional debido al sismo aumentando su rigidez lateral. Como bien lo señalas es clave ejecutar acciones de diseño en esos casos donde la incidencia de estos efectos de segundo orden sea significativa, siendo directamente proporcional este hecho a la esbeltez de la columna.
