El Chinche de la Espina, Insecto hemíptero

Algunas plantas frutales han sufrido el ataque de esta especie de insecto conocido como Chinche Espinoso, llamado as{i por su pronoto extendido hacia lo alto de su dorso y culmina en un extremo afilado parecido a una espina. También es común ver una planta ornamental, como un rosal, lleno de estos pequeños hemípteros que no llegan a alcanzar los 2 cm de longitud.

Some fruit plants have been attacked by this species of insect known as the spiny bug, so called because of its pronotum extending high on its back and culminating in a sharp thorn-like end. It is also common to see an ornamental plant, such as a rose bush, full of these small hemiptera that do not reach 2 cm in length

Vista de lado se puede notar el parecido a una espina, esta le sirve de camuflaje en las plantas ornamentales (rosal), ahuyentando a posibles depredadores que se marchan al ver este tipo de espina en su dorso.

Seen from the side you can notice the resemblance to a thorn, this serves as camouflage in ornamental plants (rose), scaring away possible predators that leave when they see this type of thorn on its back

En alguna ocasión les mencioné a la chicharra por su ciclo de vida, pues este insecto que pertenece a la Familia Membracidae tiene algunos rasgos morfológicos parecidos aunque en realidad no pertenecen a esta familia. Los chinches espinosos más notables son los del Género Umbonia, las especies Umbonia crassicornis y Umbonia spinosa, resaltan con los colores característicos: verde, amarillo, rojo y marrón.

On some occasion I mentioned the cicada because of its life cycle, since this insect that belongs to the Family Membracidae has some similar morphological features although they do not really belong to this family. The most notable spiny bugs are those of the Genus Umbonia, the species Umbonia crassicornis and Umbonia spinosa, which stand out with their characteristic colors: green, yellow, red and brown

Estos Artrópodos se han extendido desde América Central hasta América del Sur y se adaptaron al clima subtropical con mecanismos de reproducción llevados a cabo principalmente por la hembra de la especie, pues es la encargada de cuidar los huevos y proteger a las pequeñas criaturas de los eventuales depredadores con la riña interna de los miembros de una misma "camada" de insectos.

These Arthropods have spread from Central America to South America and have adapted to the subtropical climate with reproduction mechanisms carried out mainly by the female of the species, since she is in charge of taking care of the eggs and protecting the small creatures from eventual predators with the internal squabbling of the members of the same "litter" of insects
