La espirometría es un procedimiento médico que se basa en una prueba la cual permite medir el flujo de aire qué puede llegar a exhalar el paciente, del mismo modo permite sabe el tiempo y la velocidad en la que lo hace. Dicha prueba permite diagnosticar o descartar diversas enfermedades que afectan a nuestro sistema respiratorio.
Spirometry is a medical procedure that is based on a test which allows you to measure the air flow that the patient can exhale, in the same way it allows you to know the time and speed in which it does so. This test allows diagnosing or ruling out various diseases that affect our respiratory system.
Dicho procedimiento se realiza a través de un aparato, en donde el paciente deberá de respirar a través de una boquilla que se encuentra unida al artefacto llamado espirómetro. Por lo general el paciente deberá de respirar como lo hace de costumbre, es decir sin presentar alteración alguna en el patrón respiratorio, sin embargo existen casos en los que al paciente se le indica que debe realizar una inhalación o una exhalación profunda o fuerte, esto sucede como parte del estudio al procedimiento médico.
This procedure is performed through a device, where the patient must breathe through a mouthpiece that is attached to the device called a spirometer. In general, the patient should breathe as usual, that is, without presenting any alteration in the respiratory pattern, however there are cases in which the patient is instructed to perform a deep or strong inhalation or exhalation, this happens as part of the study to the medical procedure.
Gracias a este procedimiento se permite el descartar o diagnosticar patologías que afecten al sistema respiratorio, por lo general son enfermedades donde el especialista no puede detectar a simple vista. El examen médico permite identificar patologías como el asma, enfisema pulmonar, la bronquitis o saber cuales son los motivos del porque una persona puede presentar dificultad respiratoria.
Thanks to this procedure, it is possible to rule out or diagnose pathologies that affect the respiratory system, usually they are diseases where the specialist cannot detect with the naked eye. The medical examination allows to identify pathologies such as asthma, pulmonary emphysema, bronchitis or to know what are the reasons why a person may have respiratory difficulty.
La prueba también se suele indicar para valorar el efecto de un medicamento en el organismo, para valorar el progreso del tratamiento indicado ante una patología y observar si la condición física ha mejorado, para valoración de la función pulmonar previa a una cirugía como condición pre operatoria.
The test is also usually indicated to assess the effect of a medication on the body, to assess the progress of the indicated treatment in the event of a pathology and to observe if the physical condition has improved, to assess lung function prior to surgery as a pre-operative condition. .
El médico utiliza el espirómetro para llevar un control del progreso de la persona en dicha enfermedad, siendo así parte del tratamiento durante la afección pulmonar crónica.
