Este despampanante y extraño tiene unos cuernos delgados y algo peludos y la misma textura tiene sus patas, tiene ojos negros y redondos su cuerpo es de color rojo con una combinación de color amarilloso. Todo su cuerpo es de piel rustico como inconoso.El escarabajo violeta tiene una medidas de 6 a 16 mm de longitud y el tamaño de sus huevos miden 1 mm de largo y 0,5 mm de ancho , este tipo de insectos crean sus larvas y se desarrollan dentro y debajo de la corteza de árboles causando daños. El ciclo de vida del escarabajo dura un año.
