He sido usuaria del mismo por aproximadamente 3 meses y me he dado cuenta de un par de cositas que me gustaría comentarles por acá para las personas que tienen dudas sobre si usarlo a largo plazo, y cuáles serían sus ventajas y desventajas. Cabe resaltar que hablo de mi propia experiencia y que no soy especialista en el cuidado de uñas, pero sí aficionada de todo lo que tiene que ver con cuidado de la piel y belleza 🌸

La mayor parte de mi vida al asistir a un salón de belleza pedia Manicure “tradicional”. Habían dos cosas que no me gustaban de este servicio y que me hacían sentir que era una pérdida de dinero: el esmalte se me caía muy fácilmente (máximo a los dos días) y mis uñas quedaban débiles y se rompían. Optaba por cortarlas siempre y pintarlas y despintarlas en mi casa de acuerdo a la ocasión.
Most of my life when I went to a salon I would ask for a "traditional" manicure. There were two things I didn't like about this service that made me feel it was a waste of money: the nail polish fell off very easily (after two days at the most) and my nails were weak and broke. I opted to always cut them and paint and polish them at home according to the occasion.
Había escuchado sobre el esmalte semi-permanente de una forma negativa: costoso, daña las uñas, etc. Y por ese motivo no me había animado a probarlo. Este año estuve utilizando uñas acrílicas por primera vez, y aunque el resultado me gustó al comienzo, luego sentía muy incómodo y antihigiénico tener una uña puesta sobre la mía 🤧 y después de esa única vez no lo volví a intentar. Deseaba conseguir alguna forma de mantener mis uñas arregladas por más tiempo, entonces decidí probar con el esmalte semipermanente.
I had heard about semi-permanent nail polish in a negative way: expensive, it damages the nails, etc. And for that reason I hadn't dared to try it. This year I was using acrylic nails for the first time, and although I liked the result at first, then it felt very uncomfortable and unhygienic to have a nail on top of mine 🤧 and after that one time I didn't try it again. I wanted to get some way to keep my nails groomed for longer, so I decided to try semi-permanent nail polish.
La primera vez lo hice de forma “casera” con una lámpara pequeña y la pintura duró en mis uñas solo una semana. No fue hasta hace 3 meses que decidí ir a una peluquería a hacerlo con una lámpara más profesional. Para ese entonces tenía mis uñas así de cortas, aquí les muestro cómo se veían esa primera vez.
The first time I did it "homemade" with a small lamp and the paint lasted on my nails for only a week. It wasn't until 3 months ago that I decided to go to a hairdresser to do it with a more professional lamp. By that time I had my nails this short, here I show you how they looked that first time.
El resultado me gustó, pero el esmalte no duró las 2 semanas que prometía, así que cambié de manicurista, y con ella he permanecido hasta la actualidad. Mi manicurista me comenta que el secreto para que las uñas se mantengan en perfecto estado a pesar de usar esmalte semipermanente es cuidarlas muy bien al momento de limarlas y retirar el esmalte. Cuando esto se hace de una forma errónea la uña queda muy delgada, se debilita y se rompen con facilidad. Cosa que a mi no me ha pasado ni una sola vez, por su buen trabajo. Aquí les muestro cómo tenía mis uñas la primera vez que las arregló mi manicurista actual, estaban cortas🙈
I liked the result, but the polish didn't last the 2 weeks it promised, so I changed manicurist, and I've stayed with her until today. My manicurist tells me that the secret to keep the nails in perfect condition despite using semi-permanent nail polish is to take good care of them when filing and removing the polish. When this is done in the wrong way, the nails become very thin, weak and break easily. Something that has not happened to me even once, because of her good work. Como me gustó su trabajo, a los 20 días volví con ella. Lo que más me agrada es que tienen esmaltes de todos los colores, stickers, y que también dibuja en la uña a mano alzada, así que con ella puedo hacerme todos los diseños que veo en Pinterest. Algunas personas dicen que el olor del esmalte semipermanente es muy fuerte para ellas, pero en mi caso, nunca me ha afectado (puede ser por el uso de la mascarilla o porque el lugar es bastante amplio). Acá les muestro el penúltimo diseño que me hice. Al final fui a hacer el mantenimiento “porque me tocaba”, pero el esmalte y el stickers habían permanecido intactos, solo se notaba el crecimiento de la uña.
As I liked her work, I went back to her after 20 days. What I like the most is that they have polishes in all colours, stickers, and that she also draws freehand on the nail, so I can do all the designs I see on Pinterest with her. Some people say that the smell of the semi-permanent polish is too strong for them, but in my case, it has never affected me (maybe because I use the mask or because the place is quite big). Here I show you the penultimate design I did. At the end I went to do the maintenance "because it was my turn", but the nail polish and the stickers had remained intact, only the growth of the nail was noticeable.
Y para mi cumpleaños decidí realizarme este diseño de “Francesas rosadas” que vi en Pinterest, y es el que tengo en la actualidad. Cómo pueden ver, mis uñas se han mantenido muy fuertes y largas, y gran parte de esto se lo atribuyo a la técnica de mi manicurista y la calidad de los esmaltes que utiliza.
And for my birthday I decided to get this "Pink Frenchie" design that I saw on Pinterest, and it's the one I have today. As you can see, my nails have stayed very strong and long, and I attribute much of this to my manicurist's technique and the quality of the polishes she uses.
En resumen, algunas cosas a tener en cuenta al entrar al mundo de los esmaltes semipermanentes:
🥀El servicio es una inversión. Cuesta mínimo el doble que el esmalte tradicional.
🌸Esmalte intacto por 20 días: Eso implica tener tus uñas como recién pintadas todos los días. El color y el brillo se mantiene in-tac-to. Te las arreglas y te olvidas de ellas por un buen tiempo.
🥀El proceso puede tardar un poco más: Pues se requiere un retirado especial del esmalte anterior, una preparación a tus uñas, e introducir las manos en la lámpara varías veces.
🌸 Secado inmediato: con el uso de esmalte semipermanente no tienes que preocuparte de qué tocas cuando te haces tus uñas, pues estarán listas y secas tan pronto como las saques de la lámpara.
🥀 El uso prolongado puede debilitar la uña. Lo mejor es descansar de cualquier tipo de esmalte cada cierto tiempo. Sin embargo, puedes dañarlas aún más si te quitas el esmalte semipermanente arrascándolo, sin el cuidado necesario.
🌸 En mi caso, el esmalte semipermanente me ayuda a mantener mis uñas largas, pues ahora siempre están pintadas y con una capa de protección. Antes si no las pintaba estaban desprotegidas y se rompían de solo respirar 😅
In summary, some things to keep in mind when entering the world of semi-permanent nail polish:
🥀The service is an investment. It costs at least twice as much as traditional nail polish.
🌸Polish stays intact for 20 days: That means your nails look like freshly painted every day. The colour and shine stays intact. You get them done and forget about them for a long time.
The process can take a little longer: It requires a special removal of the previous polish, a preparation of your nails, and putting your hands in the lamp several times.
🌸 Immediate drying: with the use of semi-permanent nail polish you don't have to worry about what you touch when you do your nails, as they will be ready and dry as soon as you take them out of the lamp.
🥀 Prolonged use can weaken the nail. It is best to take a break from any kind of polish every so often. However, you can damage them even more if you remove semi-permanent nail polish by dragging it off, without the necessary care.
🌸 In my case, semi-permanent nail polish helps me to keep my nails long, because now they are always painted and with a protective layer. Before, if I didn't paint them, they were unprotected and they would break just by breathing 😅
