Per my self-imposed 15mm challenge, here is my latest fictional tank.

I don't have a name for this at the moment, so I'm simply calling it the "mountain tank" for the time being, given how it is used. This tiny light tank (about the size of a Soviet T-26) is specially designed for steep and narrow mountain roads. Various anarchist factions, including chaos itself, use these tanks to seize control of mountainous areas and protect the bases that they set up there.

The tank is asymmetric for two reasons. First, the turret is offset so that the main gun can fire across bends in roads (think "hull-down position," but horizontal instead of vertical). Second, the tank is quite cramped, so the driver sits on the opposite side. Mountain tanks can be built as shown, or as a mirror image, depending on what the roads are like where it is deployed.

The typical mountain tank is armed only with a heavy machine gun, though the crew can open various hatches and fire small arms through them. I have other variants planned that mount heavier weapons, up to and including an 85mm howitzer.

As I mentioned, this tank is designed specifically for mountain roads, so it has an unusual suspension. There are two idler wheels in front, both connected to a dog-leg linkage. The purpose of this mechanism is to maintain track tension and also to force the main idler over the top of any obstacle (such as a boulder) in order to keep as much of the track in contact with the terrain as possible.

When not rotating to aid the tank in climbing over obstacles, the idler linkage is held in position by a spring column attached to the top, similar to a bell-crank suspension. The first two road wheels, meanwhile, are connected to each other, and both are connected to the same torsion bar. The purpose of this design is to reduce the load on the first torsion bar and further ease the process of climbing over obstacles. I have previously used this type of suspension on the KT-3 "Kalinka" medium tank, though the Kalinka has it on all six pairs of road wheels, whereas the mountain tank uses a conventional torsion bar suspension on the last four.

Mountain tanks have a few other interesting features. For instance, the driver can select which exhaust pipe is open. The reason for this is because, in extremely cold environments, hot exhaust creates remarkably thick clouds upon contact with the outside air. Anyone who has experienced a particularly cold winter (-40°) knows what I mean. Forces that operate mountain tanks can make use of this effect to hide an entire armoured column travelling through the mountains, so observers would see only rolling fog in the distance. Tanks that lead the column are frequently modified, having their exhaust pipes rerouted to the front, this way the cloud hides the entire tank. Tanks the follow rely on the clouds from tanks ahead for cover.

Причина этого потому, в очень холодных окружениях, горячий выхлоп сделает удивительно густые облака при контакте с наружным воздухом. Любой, кто пережил особенно холодную зиму (-40°) знает, что я имею в виду. Отряды, которые управляют горными танками, могут использовать этот эффект, чтобы скрыть целую бронетанковую колонну, путешествие через горы, так, наблюдатели увидят только клубящийся туман вдалеке. Главные танки колонны часто изменяются, выхлопные трубы перенаправили на носе, чтобы облако скрывает целый танк. Танки, что следуют, доверяет облака из танки впереди, для прикрытия.
The mountain tank is the second-smallest tank that I've made so far. I made a Dwarven tank that's even smaller, but I intend to re-design it at some point. So, here's how the mountain tank compares to the KT-3 and Type 97, which are both medium tanks, but also some of my smallest models (as you may have noticed, most of my models are heavy tanks). The mountain tank is the same width as the Type 97, but much shorter.

I could have added much more detail to the mountain tank, such as more spiky bits, though I think I'll save that for another day, as I plan on making several variants of it. The same goes for the KT-3, incidentally. As it is, my printable model doesn't have the spiky bits on the turret, since they are too small to print at 1:100 scale. If you want to add them, that will require some kitbashing.

Still, all that is for the future. I want to make at least one armoured vehicle for each faction before I do that, and there are quite a few that I've already made, but don't plan on keeping.
Ещё, все это для будущего. Я хочу создать хотя бы одну боевую машину для каждой фракции, пержде чем я сделаю, и вот довольно много уже создано, но я не собираюсь оставлять.
