Cleaning my hard disk leads to some interesting TBT...

...and my previous post was also a result of that but if I knew what I would find later I would make one longer post cause this current one is short of a sequel of my previous. You see I got very emotional watching those pictures from the fire at Penteli mountain in 2007 and stopped deleting old files in order to share them with you. Browsing my disk later I found pictures from a protest against the government for the fires of that year (months earlier another mountain (Parnitha) was burned). If only I knew this would be one of the last quiet protests in front of the Greek parliament:

So quiet that families grabbed the chance to take their toddlers there:

This was unthinkable during the protests triggered by the financial crisis a few years later.

Time for the funny bit now: What is the workaround for a very short journalist in order to stand out of the crowd when this gets dense like this:

There you go:

She actually went live like this.

I didn't go live but accidentally later I find two friends of mine. After a long chat due to long time no see Marian proposes that we had enough of protest and we should have a drink at the rooftop of the "Grande Bretagne" hotel. This hotel is the most emblematic 5 star in Greece so you get the picture of how this scenario would put as in an odd case of classy protesters. I say yes and so does Athina so here I am, escorting two girls, all of us in black jeans as the protest dress code proposed (to match the fire's aftermath) saying hello to the doorman as we walk towards the elevator to make it to the top. I must say I had one of my best times there. First of all, it's not actually that expensive. I mean obviously, you pay a few euros more for your drink compared to an average bar but what you get covers the price difference by far. Ordering a Gin Tonic I get a huge glass half filled with Gin and a separate bottle of Tonic - that's easily double the quantity you normally get at the vast majority of bars (if not double the quality too) plus you mix the drink yourself precisely tailored to your preference. Our drinks came escorted with a generous amount of various nuts, macademia included. Last but not least, we also enjoyed a great view to the protest:

And also a great view to Acropolis that this embarrassing picture would never do justice:

And now the emotional bit:
See the guard's tears at the monument of unknown soldier in front of the parliament during the whole demonstration:

This picture is not mine but unfortunately I don't know who to give credit to.

(Hu)Man enough to cry.
